Possible Changes for 2011

I was talking with the service manager at the dealership today. In our discussion I asked if they will be changing the 4Runner computer to remind oil changes at every 10k instead of 5k. He wasn't sure, but said Toyota will be adding some features possibly to next years model. They will possibly be oil change reminders based on the computer measuring the viscosity of the oil. So instead of a oil changes at fixed intervals, the computer will determine the appropriate time. He also mentioned instead of just having a generic tire warning, there will be more specific information as to which tire.

Someone mentioned in one of the threads it would be nice to know the pressure for each tire similar to what GM is already doing. Looks like Toyota is listening

Honestly, I doubt that your service manager has any clue what Toyota will be doing for the 2011 model year. Toyota keeps that close to the vest.

That wouldn't surprise me... our 07 ES (first model year) was tweaked for the 08 models... though minor... I would of appreciated having them.

When do Toy dealers start getting the next model year??? I can't wait until September... I'd miss an entire summer of off-roading.

I highly doubt they will change anything for the 2011's.
The 2010's did'nt even have a full year production with their late release and they are pretty hot sellers as is.

I disagree. With all the problems Toyota has faced this year, I think we will see changes across the entire lineup. We have already heard of possible black boxes in every 2011.

M1911, any other year, I would agree with you, but I bet Toyota has communicated not only changes, but a new direction for the company to the dealers. Toyota has an image they need to repair.

I do admit these are rumours and by no means definite changes, but it is fun to discuss. I have had my car for two months now, and so far think they hit a homerun with the 4Runner!

M1911, any other year, I would agree with you, but I bet Toyota has communicated not only changes, but a new direction for the company to the dealers. Toyota has an image they need to repair.

Toyota has an image that they need to repair, but that issue is with safety, not with vehicle features.

There is no advantage to Toyota USA telling service managers this type of information this far in advance of the model year change over, and it just isn't how Toyota works.

THe dealer barely knows the car he is selling and you think he can know about next years model? LOL

IF you look at past toyota new models, there is very little change going from 1st to 2nd year. That is true for HL, VEnza, camry, rav 4, sequoia etc. Ive been in the market now for last 3+ years for suv if you can believe it, now pulling trigger, so ive kept a watchfull eye on these suvs. First wanted a rav4, then HL, then venza, now settling for the mighty 4R

I think there are a lot of service advisers/managers who know a hell of a lot more about the vehicles than the sales team up front.

Regardless of size and what anyone says, there will definitely be some changes to the 2011 model. It's the nature of industry... tweaks are continually made - even during a current production year. (again, I stress "regardless of size").

Amen...ain't this the truth. The parts and service guys are car guys, the front of the house are all sales guys, I find I usually know more than them.

I could see Toyota changing the tire pressure monitoring on the Ltd edition...they have the tecnology on the Landcruiser already. More colours on the trail edition would be nice too. My buddy mentioned that to me the other day, he was disappointed that there never are enough choices on the special models.

I was telling the salesman about the TE and its functionality during our entire exchange. About all he told me was it had four wheels and drove real nice
