My trailer has a Dexter axle and leaf springs. I did a 'flip' of the axle to an underslung position for the lift by welding on new spring perches and putting the axle below the leafs. Not all trailers are that simple though. A utility trailer should be the same setup. I'm thinking of building a four link and add shocks to it so it stops rattling apart on the trails but I'm not sure yet. We camp once a month and I don't know that I want the camper down for a couple months working out the kinks.

fine looking rig... tell me me how does she tow? do you have any problems going up hills? I had a transmission cooler installed just becauase it was cheap insurance...

I hope to get a nice trailer like that only not as big..

Tows just fine. Weight is really not a problem, aerodynamic is though. I'm sure there is not a big difference between towing this or a 20 feet long trailer. Same frontal area.

When driving under 40 mph, I hardly notice something is behind, even in stop and go driving. I bought an equalizer hitch, so sway is not a problem (yet). I was lucky enough to have nice weather each time I towed it.

I also have a fluid cooler for the transmission, I really think it is a must.

I have an 3rd gen she does not pull my jetski as well as my bassboat or my pop up. I'm not really sure why either.. getting drums, NYS inspection and tune up on saturday.. i'll ask and see what the techs say.. burning smell too... fluids might need changing too.

I have friends who tow but they dont really pay too much attention to weight and such things... I worry about them and other people..

your rig looks like it was engineered properly balanced good thing you have that hitch too.. added piece of mind.

My 3Gen tows my Coachman just fine, 60 MPH with WD hitch/friction bar. I'll tell you this, the dual axles on the camper are night and day compared to my smaller single Jayco 17C I replaced. No hop, less roaming. I actually like the three pop out beds, makes it feel like a tent, and I have been under snow, rain, heat.., with no problems. Plus my 21ft opens to over 30ft without the weight. Thanks for the compliment, good luck getting back into the game.

I have heard about dual vs single axles and how much better it gets for towing. I still have a POP up though i use it, but it's getting old... and so am i.. I like to just Pull up un hook and start camping.. I do like Jayco's.. they make great units..

My Coachman is of the same high quality as my previous Jayco, however a third pop out bed was a must.., no more jumping over the dinette also. Jayco had a similar set up but a few feet shorter for the same price. Rock wood Roo are also nice, but sell like hot cakes up here. I know what you mean about set up with these types of campers.., especially in the rain, however if I had a 4th Gen with a V8, then I would have been able to look into hard slides. Photo taken just after new lift, (notice reverse rake lol) had to adjust hitch down two inches.., last minute pain in the butt. Hit traffic as a result. Blah

wow thats goes down real easy man.... looks great!! rock wood you said sells very well up there? before sunline went out of business they were the cats arse around here.. now for towables Jayco is supposed to be the better and deseriable unit.
I am in Mid long island(suffolk county NY) most of the places of closed down.. now there are only a few places(actually one) that i would trust when buying a camper they have been around forever and still going strong..

I'm not sure of why my Runner does not function too well under pressure i mean my POP UP drags along better than my jet ski.. might be the tongue weight or the way the ski is situated on the trailer.. too much weight up front- too little ? i dunno, seems like she labors and with TRD exhaust and K&N when you get on it a bit YOU HEAR IT! I get a burning smell.. might the Fluid in the trans mission which i am having drained and flushed refilled on tuesday.

what size life do you have in there? do you have plans for bigger tires? right now i run a E rated tire(before i knew better) they too will be changed out shortly..

OME 881 and 890 with Bilsteins and no top plate. Traded 265's for 285 Duratracs on ATX 16" wheels. Drives way better than stock.., why did I wait twelve years? :bash:

Love those tires.... i'll have to find me some smaller ones.. as i am stock.. i'll bet they come in small size. you say it rides pretty good eh? what load range?

Load range is "E", and they def have 31" for stock. Bought them for our Nor'easter Winters.. Local Dpw workers swear by them. They ride nice at 31psi

THIS is exactly what i have been looking for... not too big and not too small.. I like the idea of twin axles. I'll bet it tows like a dream.. I like Jayco, but i'll bet this is just as good. I saw one unit that had the AC unit mounted in the SIDE of the unit- like house.. on the outside it was flush.. i kinda like it on the roof better.. good luck! she's beauty
