Gonna tint the fronts??

I was thinking of checking the state tint laws just before you asked.

Thanks for the remarks. I have browsed your build thread several times and have absolutely nothing on you other than a hood scoop. Of course, the hood scoop is great as a bug catcher which works for me as I'm a biologist:

I just had my front window tint re-done to match the rear while I'm down here in NC. I figure I'll risk it with the cops. :lightsaber:

Here's a tip: Tint the front windshield a few degrees (which is much harder to notice). This will have a darkening effect in the cabin and on side windows allowing you to go lighter on the side tint. This way you still get a overall darker effect without any one set of windows breaking the law (to bad) and without compromising night vision.

Oh I know its illegal, but then isnt all the tint jobs that look good? So is all the dark side windows you see on the road. All I am saying is that its really hard to tell the front windshield is tinted at all when you tint the entire thing and just a couple of degrees.

IMHO I feel its easier to get away with illegal tint if you approach all windows with bending the rules (couple degrees over the legal limit) oppose to some of the glass with broken rules.

I guess I'm just not following your logic on the whole thing even though I understand your concept.

Or, as my tint guy suggested, tint all the rears to 5% then the fronts to 20% (20% being very close to OEM glass) so when the law passes you s/he see's 2 different tints and assumes that with the fronts being lighter they are legit.:wink2:

Whether this deception will work :shrug: but it looks good on paper.

Then again he may have just been trying to sell me on doing the rears :shrug:

Finally able to proudly add my SR5. As my sig indicates I just installed the Toytec Ultimate as I was too late to get the Overland kit. Also added the Light Racing UCAs. Those are Toyo Open Country Mud Terrains in 295/70 17 mounted on 17x9 KMC XD Hoss wheels. It took some trimming and a little BFH treatment to the body mount but the tires fit.

Can't wait to break them in on some of the AZ trails.

Went back to High-Tech Auto in Chantilly and had Bobby put on some new tires.
285/70 Nitto Terra Grapplers or, as my son calls them, Neat-O Terror Grappers

Not much noise difference, drives better, balanced PERFECTLY:

Finally done !
toytec ultimate lift,
spidetraxx 1.25" spacers ,
Light Racing UCA ,
275/60/20 Nitto terra grapplers,
harper 7's front fender well ajustment and some exacto knife trimming of the mud flaps.the tire is about and 1/4" from the body mount i guess if i had the alignment shop do the max caster that would have been a bit more . but the told me that when you go max caster you feel a lot more feedback through the sterring wheel .. not a alignment expert so i don't know if thats true or not ..

all in all i am super happy with the result ... the picuters really don't do it justice .
