I think the general consensus regarding drop bracket lifts is that they're pretty much for looks and to fit large tires.

Yeah I noticed that running trend. I'm happy with the 33s I'm running, I just need coilovers to replace my budget boost.

Lifted for a month now
Thank you to everyone on here for all the great information on mods that helped me in deciding what lift was best for my situation. I lifted my T4R sr5 last month with Toytec ultimate 3 in lift and I am loving the looks and ride. For now I will use up what left of the stock size Nitto terra grabbers, and plan on upsizing the tires soon.

I am looking at doing this exact same option or doing the same thing w/ Bilstein shocks and Toytec coils. Any comments on the new ride/handling? I would love to see some more picks from different angles if you have them. Any trouble with alignment without UCAs?

Thanks! I have already gone the route of 285's (on my 2008 DCab Tacoma) and the gas mileage went down hill. We drive this thing too much to really up the tire size for the small amount of off roading we will do as a family. Yeah yeah yeah, it is a grocery getter, but what the hell... I like the look and the ride is excellent! I was pleased with how it turned out and it looks great coming down the road. It has a stock appearance but it just looks a little bigger!

I didn't ask for the alignment numbers from the shop. They are a 4WD off road shop and have a large well qualified staff from my research and multiple word of mouth references.
The ride and handling is much more improved over the stock squishy coils and shocks.

I left 265's on mine as well. I do think the 285s look a tad better, but I think this thing stock already downshifts way too often on highway... I could not convince myself to numerically decrease the rear end size by adding larger tires. Also didn't want the extra unsprung weight. If this was a dedicated off road vehicle, I'd get 285s in a heartbeat.

im running ICON at 3" of lift and 265 duratracs. everytime i go offroad i wish i had a taller, not wider tire for the added ground clearance. it looks good with the 265s though.
ETA this is when i had the ICON set at 2.5"
285s are taller as well.
