Post your LIFTED pix here!

going to get 285's now?

I've thought about it several times, but will probably stick with stock size. The height difference is minimal, and I want to keep gas mileage as high as possible and not throw my odometer and speedometer off. I am so OCD that would drive me crazy, lol!

I have stock size tires, they are GY Silent Armor. My speedo is off by 2mph. I'm traveling 2mph slower than what the speedo is reading.

I'll assume it's the tires, even though they are stock size. When I bought the truck they came with them tires so I have no reference as to the previous accuracy of the speedo.

I've noticed this too. Granted, it's only using those speed limit signs with the built in radar, but I've been through 4x. What are the chances that all four where off by the same? I'll have to confirm it with a gps.

I've used the POPO speedo setups they have posted on the side of some roads (mobile stations), school zones that have your traveling speed built in to the signs as you stated above; both of which I'll assume are not super accurate and who knows when the last time they were calibrated. Of course also GPS and mile marker post on the interstate.

It's not just those signs. I got pulled over by WA State Patrol and my speedo said 75 and he said he had me at 73, wasn't paying attention to how fast traffic was going at the time. Lucky he gave me a warning, first time in 10 years i had been pulled over.

I'm probably going to upgrade to 18" wheels and 275/65/18 tires which are about a 1/2" bigger in diameter than stop. Will be curious to see if that corrects it.

Lifted with 285/70/R17 Wrangler Durtatrac

I got mi lift, tires and my 6000K HIDs I took this photo during Christmas and these were all the planned mods I had for last year. I'll keep it this way for a bit until I recover from all the Christmas expenses and can do some other mods.

Looks good, what lift? Put details in your signature or you'll get a ton of questions.

Anybody that says the new 5.5 Gen front end is ugly, should look at this picture and think again! I am starting to regret not waiting a little longer!

X-reas

Thanks for the compliments guys! Really appreciate the advice Harper provided on this build... probably PM'd him 5 or 6 times and he was always extremely helpful! The lift substantially changed the stance perception from the driver's seat... hard to believe it's only 3"! Fun to watch the wife get in with a skirt on too!!! :naughty: Still struggling with wheel choices, although I was pretty set on tire size (yes, it does rub when backing... gotta get in there and modify the inner fender liner on the driver's side at the back of the wheel well). Very happy with the Toytec setup... lots of articulation and the ride is much better than stock IMO. Waiting now for a TRD sway bar, though. Had the local Toyota dealer (Toyota of New Bern) do the wrench work and am extremely happy with the job they did! Here's some additional photos as requested... sorry for the quality, I'm not a photographer! As for the wheels... really liking the Mojaves several fellow members have... stay tuned!

Did you have to remove the X REAS to put different size rims on the LTD?

^ Far as I know you have to remove the X REAS for a lift. Don't think new wheels would affect anything.

I think all my Toyotas have been a tad under what the Speedo says.. when I put bigger tires on the 4runner my Speedo is now on point with speed radars.

If your speedo is always off by 2mph it is not caused by your ties. If it had something to do with different tire sizes then the amount of error would vary at different speeds.

Here's a handy tool to determine the changes you will experience when changing tire sizes

So what do you think? I just switched out the 17x8.5 0 ET Method Standards for 17x9 -12 ET Black Rhino Moabs. Re-mounted the 315 Duratrac's. I was sort of forced to get them under the time constraints I was under, since they were out of stock in the Method Standards in a 17X9 -12 ET. When I get back stateside (I'm in Germany), I'll be selling these to get the Method Standards back and upgrade to 35" Toyo MT's. And still no heavy rubbing!! Very, Very light rubbing on the sway bar at full lock.

Rig looks good...but

For future reference when when people read this thread down the road when you say "no rubbing" you mean no rubbing on concrete turning the wheels back and forth. Cause if you flex this thing on a trail either a tire or a fender has to give.

You could should be the first to fiberglass fenders!

You are correct, but being here in Germany and living in the middle of nowhere, I am very limited on the fabrication I can perform. Once I get stateside, I will be adding a small 1 to 1.25" body lift so I don't need to completely re-engineer the front and rear fenders and perform a much simpler Firewall mod so at full compression I can actually turn lock to lock (Body mount already modified). I'll keep you posted on my progress in the coming months
