Finally got the lift installed and thanks to everyone who posted their info; it helped me select the items I chose. It still tracks at freeway speeds and had it aligned 3 times. I may have to get UCA's. Other than that, I'm very happy.

Bilstein 5100 2.5" front (stock springs), Bilstein 5100 and Daystar 1.5" rear (stock springs), 18X9 Fuel Boost wheels, Toyo 275/65/18 AT II's. 1" Trans drop. Firestone airbags.

Anyone have problems with rubbing on the driver side fender liner?


Im running a Toytec Boss lift front is set at 3" Cooper S/T Maxx 285 70 R17 on 17x9 Ballistic Anvil Rims +12mm offest?

Tire only rubs on the driver side rear fender liner. I get rubbing on sharp left turns and reversing. Thanks in advance!

Yup...same here. Still looking into it. I've cut some of the liner. I haven't had time to get in there lately and look further.

I really hope you are running spacers with those wheels. You have a 5.5" backspacing with a +12 offset. I don't even want to know how close you are to your control arms. The safe zone for the 4runner is 4.5" BS, I ran 5" with my old six shooters but that was with a 1.25" spidertrax. It could also be the reason why you might be rubbing more than others....

Thanks for the info. The tire shop assured me if it didnt fit right theyd make it better migjt just go with a 270 tire. Control arm is pretty close about a half inch of space..

There are additional maintenance needs if you are going to use spacers. They will shorten the life of wheel bearings, but if you use a quality made set they should be fine off road.

The pictures below are using 265/70's on 8" wide wheels with 4.5" of back spacing. Top is without and bottom is with 1.25" spacers I had to trim both front fender and the mudflaps. If you go this route with 285's you will very likely also have to do a body mount mod.

There is a small window above and on the right that say's Google Custom Search. Use it to look for front fender mods and body mount mods while adding the term "5th Gen" before you search. It's amazing how much information is available in here using that little window. I'm not trying to specifically be Unhelpful. But you can get answers to a lot of your questions by simply using that search window. We have all learned to use it eventually.

It also helps reduce cluttering up a PICTURE thread with unnecessary discussion. :thumb:
