Lift

Guessing that the notches are for OEM springs (shorter) thus top notch = 2.5". Im running Billy 5100s on the 3rd notch and got about 2.5" out of them. if the Toytec springs are stouter and longer it makes sense.

Either way, looks bad @$$

How does yours ride though? Mine rode like crap with the notches all the way up! It was super bouncy and got annoying!

Hey all the rides look good. I have been reading through this trying to put a plan of attack together for my MG 16 sr5. It will see very little off road, but i do plan to tow my camper with it (5000lbs). From what i gathered i should just do the bilstein 5100s and possibly new springs in the rear? I have a baby on the way so i dont need to make it so high the wife (5'5") can't load a car seat. Thanks in advance for any info you can shine my way.

Also looking to get konig countersteer x wheels but still debating the tire.

Thanks for the kind words and stalking my ride! Lol jk well after dropping it yesterday the front came down quite a bit ! Oh well but I love the ride now !

I went through the same thing. I discovered that the notches on the 5100s are for those that are using the stock springs. In our case, Toytec's package (like we have), doesn't use the shock itself for the lift. The springs and what-not do the lifting instead of relying on the shock to do the lifting.

You might want to look into air bags for the rear instead of springs if you're towing.

Timbren Rear Bump Stops would be a good option bcmurphy87...they don't affect your daily ride, but when the rear is compressed with tongue weight and the bumpstops touch the axle, they provide "in theory" additional spring rate.

I have them and like them. Around town you don't know they are there until we load up with 4 adults and 300 lbs of camping gear.

Will the bump stops work with a lift or rear spacers? Still undecided about 1.5 or 2" lift. We normally tow something 4-5 times a year.

Team 4Runner's,

I finally got my lift. Been lurking for a while and got recommendations from chudiddy for tire sizes and advice. I just went with the 6112 at the highest setting 2.5 and with the 5160's with ICON 2" rear coils with the TRD Pro rims and BFGs 285's. At first I jumped the gun and was worried at how stiff the front 6112's were but the rear was soaking up all the speed bumps and pot holes. It has since settled and it drives how I want it. No see saw effect when braking or pressing on the gas. My lift was installed first a few days ago and waited for my tires to come in and and just got my wheels on today. It doesn't rub at all I tried everything and it is perfect.

like your setup! kinda makes me wish i had gone bigger with the lift and plus sized the tires. gives me another excuse to put some hard miles on the stock sized BFGs i guess

your first pic with the lift and stock tires looks like the guy at the gym who skipped leg day for his entire life!

Maybe someone on here can help me figure this out
I just put in the Bilstein 5100's at 2.5" in the front (Stock coil) and 5100's with toytech 2" spring in the rear.

As you can see from the image link, the rear is much much higher. When iI put the new springs in I left the rear coil Isolator in as i didnt want metal on metal even though I put Airbags on. I made sure the bottom of the spring is seated correctly as well. I feel like i got more then a 2" lift.
Stupid me didnt measure before but now the rear is siting at 40" (ground to top of fender). Any ideas are appreciated. Ill climb under to snap more pictures if needed

I don't have a lift and don't know much about them but from what i've read, they will settle and sit a little lower after a few weeks.

That front doesn't look like its up 2.5" to me. But obviously measurements would help. Measure it now (center of hub to bottom of wheel well) and ask someone stock to measure so you can compare.

Ill do that later tonight. I agree with the front, but I can assure its lifted 2.5 right now. I put it on Bilsteins 5100 on the top notch for the max lift. I also just got 1/4 top plate spacers to put on. Im hoping that will make a difference and the springs will settle .5-1"

If you used Toytec Superflex rears they will look like that until you've driven it for a bit. Mine looked the same when installed. I carried a couple hundred lbs of gear around with them and made a long trip with a good load. This is what it looks like unloaded now. I have 2" lift in the front. Note that the slider is level to the ground compared to yours.

if you had read through the stickys you would have known that was going to happen. SAW 1.5" coils would have been the perfect match up.

Thanks for the reply, I did read through them, I just didn't think it would be such a big difference. And all 1.5 SAW that I found were on back order or Out of Stock
