1999 Satoshi style grill

Here's my version of the Satoshi style grill. Went the tougher route and did it using a 1999 grill. More pics in my build thread.

I actually didnt use a font. I just knew I wanted the letters to be slightly wider than they were tall, and I wanted them to be blocky rather than rounded. So I went back to jr high shop class and did a little drafting on paper. Came up with a design I liked and went with it. But it looks like blonde1boarder found a font that looks similar to my letters when he made his with a laser cutter.

Actually didn't use a font. Whipped up a drawing in solidworks and then used that for the laser cutter. And it was definitely cheating using a laser cutter haha

I hate to be "that guy" but just an FYI to anyone who stumbles across this thread ... it isn't actually a SATOSHI grill mod unless you use the TOYOTA emblem.


This is an actual named mod that has been around for years. I first saw it on YotaTech back when my truck was still untouched.

Its not that these other grill mods aren't great .... but I feel like if nothing is said then the NEW people who come visit this thread will think that "Satoshi Mod" means "Grill Mod" when in fact it doesn't.

This thread is actually > 50% grill mod and < 50% Satoshi so the battle for accuracy is pretty much lost. I realize its not a big deal but still I would prefer the mod named Satoshi keep its true meaning.


* Satoshi Mod is great (be sure to use the right emblem)

* Other/Custom Grill Mods are great too (use whatever you would like in however style you wish) but it isn't a Satoshi.

Very nice! I've always loved white vehicles, only some can pull it off, the Satoshi looks very good with it too.

On a side note in your sig it says URD "6th" injector, I'm not S/C'd yet, but isn't it a 7th injector? I could just be completely retarded though.

Thanks for the response. URD offers two fuel kits the 6th and 7th kits. The primary reason for the 6th kit, some vehicles are equipped with an EGR value (Exhaust Gas recirculation system). Hence the reason for choosing one kit over the other, where the 7th injector is installed is where one would have the EGR value. However, at the time our non-EGR equipped 4Runner was S/C, the URD 7th kit was not available. . Check out URDUSA.com for a details on both kits application.

Having said that, we have read and agree the 6th kit allows for finer timing and fueling the tune. What's amazing is when we hit the go pedal, it is impressive how much power is produce. We also run the Devils Own meth/water injector kit, which we find useful for cooling the intake air. In the lower southwest 100 degree+ heat where we frequently travel the s/c can get heat soaked without the meth/water combo cooling affect. The bonus methanol provides exponentially more power while in boost. No struggles at any elevation or terrain grade.
