The title is kind of a failure of a synopsis, but I'll explain better...
I have a '91 4R 3VZ-E 3.0 litre. It has 200,000 some-odd miles on the engine, and we just finished an overhaul.
The problem was that it turned over and started, ran for about 5 or 10 seconds, then dies. The problem now is that it idles pretty evenly at about 800/500 RPM, but dies if I let off the gas a little too long. It also sounds like crap. Rough. Could just be the exhaust leak underneath.
I've gone through the basic troubleshooting, compression is just a bit less than the minimum according to the Toyota service manual.
Now moving on, I have a loose hose coming from the underside of the air intake chamber near all the other hoses and such. The arrow points to where the hose comes from.
I also have an outlet where a hose is supposed to plug, but I can't seem to find the hose nor what either of these things are for. The Toyota service manuals seem a bit... incomplete.
