Problem with rear wiper

Good morning TR4 people. Hope somebody can help me. The rear wiper on my 2011 Trail stops working, and at the same time the rear defroster button doesn't work. I tried taking it to the dealer twice but both times it started working on the way to the dealer. They did look at it and found nothing wrong. Has anybody out there had a similar problem. I'm going to try to go to the dealer for the third time, maybe the third time will be the charm. Thank you.

Yeah, every time I disconnect the battery for some reason it gets confused and can't figure out if the window is closed or not. Just opening and closing the window again will fix it.

Had this problem one time when the rear window was down ever so slightly. Defroster wouldn't turn on and was driving me nuts! Pulled the window switch to close it and sure enough, no problemo.

Run the window all the down and back up. That should solve the problem. The wiper and heater won't work if the truck thinks the window is open even the slightest amount.

There is also a TSB out for 2010-11's that sounds like it could be your problem if the window is up all the way and it still doesn't work. Several people on here have had it also...

Some 2010-2011 model year 4Runner vehicles may exhibit one or more of the following conditions. These may appear intermittently.
• Rear wiper inoperative
• Rear defogger inoperative
• Rear tailgate power window inoperative
• Unable to open the rear hatch
• Interior lights mounted in the tailgate inoperative
• DTC 1287 Back Door ECU Communication Stop may be stored These conditions may be caused by an open circuit in the tailgate harness. The tailgate harness sheathing has been lengthened to address these conditions.
