Problems Mounting Shrockworks Front Bumper.....

I plan to call tomorrow, but thought I would check to see what you guys might offer.

Basically either the bumper brackets are too wide or the frame mounts are too narrow...

I followed the directions, grinding and fitting and using the "C-clamp" called for on the instructions to try to get the mounts as tight to the frame rails, but it is still just too tight.

I am thinking that I may leave everything loose and try to bolt it together that way and then tighten everything down if I can get it to go. The instructions call for everything to be tightened down before mounting the bumper, but after fiddling with it ALOT last night, I think that is actually part of the problem, it seems that in tightening things down the brackets are actually pulling inward...

I was SOO disgusted after 6 hours of work that I just put it back on the stands last night and bolted the Factory bumper back on. Now after all the hard work not only did the bumper not go on, even a little bit, but I now have to repaint the brackets and touch up the bumper from all the man handling and fighting. Waited 4 months, and spent some serious $$ and while it looks awesome sitting in the garage, if I can't get it on the freakin' truck then it is pretty useless.

Make no mistake, it is a serious bumper and a very high quality piece, I am just aggravated that I can't seem to get it to it's new home.

Also, side bar note, who do I need to tell about problems with the server. On more than one occasion lately I am getting "Server too busy, try again later" and last night after a lengthy post I got dumped and after the day I had had, I was pretty P.O.'d.

Hope I can help here, even though I have a gen 4.

Found that you mount the brackets on and leave loose, even the brackets alone don't mesh on by them selves without torqueing them. Attach the bumper on the brackets loosely also.

Tighten the bumper to brackets first after all bolts are in. Tighten brackets to frame after all bolts are in. Brackets will pull into each other direction.

After all tighten, you can loosen bumper bolts a little to situate the position you desire and torque down.

The fitment is really tight with these bumpers. We ended having to grind some of the powder coat off to get it to fit.

Thanks guys. Sounds like loose fitting it may get it on. Mine came bare steel and I have already ground on the long leg that goes back on the inside of the frame some. I really just want to figure out how to get it on, then I will touch up the paint and probably put some grease on the mounts to help slide it together and help protect from rust where I inevitably scrape off.

Just a bit of a bummer after a long hard day, plus it will probably be a couple weeks before I get another Saturday to fool with it again.

It's super tight with the powder coating.

I grinded a bit then c-clamped in place and got it started with a BFH wrapped in a rag, then the C-clamp the rest of the way

It was a pain to try and get off to reprint some of my grinds too, only realized it after the first 2 wacks.
