pulls to the left when braking... brakes are good???

issues with my rig just returned from getting new lower balljoints oem, and the lca bushings pressed out and replaced with whiteline bushings, all new bolts and cam adjusters and hardware. it pulls to the left and i have to correct with the steering wheeel right also when i put it in 4wd high when i step on the gas the wheel pulls left then straightens out when i let off.

i am suspecting that the rack is the issue since they told me it was leaking. i am waiting for Safari p/s rack as they are currently backordered. any ideas what it might be as far as issues? thoughts? this is driving me nuts and i just want to know if this is a problem with the rack and i just need to hold tight for 2 more weeks till it comes in or sothing else i need to chase?

also for you guys that have replaced their lca bushings with whiteline poly's did you notice the bushings are shorter than oem?

Possibly rotors. When it pulls when braking that could be your problem. You can get them turned at like an orielys for like 10 bucks or get new rotors

not brakes since i just had them turn and rears i just did a brake job with new oem drums and shoes as well as brake cylinders since they were leaking. the from calipers i blead as well and the brake pistons in the calipers are function properly as they should.

This condition can be caused by Caster issues, it's not common, but low Caster causes instability that may be evident on braking. Since you just had new ball joints, I would at least check the alignment, although if you change your rack you'll have to correct it for toe again after that.

:snacker:

I had the same issue when I replaced one of my lower control arms with a Dorman unit. I would hit the brakes and the dang thing would change lanes on me! Replaced the bushings in the original lower control arm, reinstalled it and all was good. Probably doesn't help you with your whiteline bushings though.

This is the alignment sheet after the alignment they did. Does the caster and sai look weird to you guys?

You have covered pretty much everything in the front end except the inner tie rod and a new rack will take care of that. i would just wait and change the rack first then see what happens.

So no change after they removed 5 deg. of toe?

nervermind: just saw the date:)

Well SAI is a little on the low side, but if you are lifted that isn't surprising. The Caster is low too, but not unreasonably. The toe in was off the chart initially!

More importantly, although unrelated to your problem, your thrust angle is pushing the envelope at .2. Left rear is toed in, right rear is toed out. Like you have lower arm issues, or something. Having seen this truck in person, I wouldn't think you would have worn lower arm bushings, but for the sake of argument, have you looked at them?

:car:

Edit: If for example the left lower arm bushings allowed the axle to move forward on the left side while braking, the vehicle would pull to the left. Just sayin'

Hey Jaime the lca bushings ( white line poly inserts) were just changed as well as the lower balljoints right before this alignment.

I don't really see how the rack could be the issue, unless there's a massive amount of slop between the pinion and the rack, and that would make itself known in other ways too.

Personally I'd bleed the brakes again and see if there's any change before I started changing (expensive) parts.

It's a long shot, but if the rear axle is shifting it would cause chaos. I only mention it because of your rear toe/thrust angle readings.

I'm going to take it to get a realignment tomorrow and see how things are I hope it will sort of correct the issues I have while I wait for the rack to show up and new rear lcas. I'll also try to re bleed the brakes since I have speed bleeders

I didn't compare the size of my whitelines to my OEMs but once the whitelines and included washer's were installed, everything fit snug.

My alignment numbers are similar to yours but I actually have less caster (~1.7, did this on purpose to move my tire away from the rear wheel well) & I haven't experienced any handling issues when driving or braking.
