Putting the red bumper lenses to use

For right now, I'm just thinking of using LED bulbs.
If I remember correctly, you cut out the back of the tail lights and wired in a whole new module and then glued it all back together. I really don't want to put in that amount of time and effort. I'm just to damn lazy for that.

You might try it, but make sure to put MATRIX LEDs in Tail/Brake to illuminate whole housing. I've done it => didn't like, so have done the conversion and I like the LED looks lights.

Oh you mean the plug and play LED bulbs, dont' bother with those. They are just not bright enough. Most of them use 5mm LEDs that have a really narrow beam to them. It won't look good, and people behind you won't even be able to see them in the day time.

I don't see why not, I put the plug n play type in the bumper lenses and they are much redder and brighter than the filaments in the tails.

You've to consider the effective reflecting area and inside volume of the housing. Bumper lens are approximately 4times smaller.

finally starting this rearfog mod

well tonight ill be doing the rearfog light mod, but im taking a different take on it. i went with using oem sockets from toyota, the 7443 type from the center taillight. ill post pics and full write up later tonight w/ pics wish me luck, and i want to thanks all who have done this mod and inputted all the errors and problems they went through so that the procrastinators (like myself) dont do what you guys did. great write ups again.

well i decided to be retarded and leave the oem 7443 sockets at my parents house and my memory card reader so there will be no posting of pics tonight. (parents house is 2 hours+ away) but i did get to do the wiring w/ pics. i will post tomorrow.

After much reading on the how to do this MOD (thanks to all of you who posted your how to's step by step) I was finally able to make this happen.

Here are some pix of my MOD, excuse how vague the explanations are but if you have any questions I'll gladly answered them for you.

On a related note: I just love how the other 4th gen runners slow down and ride on my 7 or 5 in order to admire how kick A** my taillights look

How bright are the bumper lights compared to the stock tail lights at night time? The way yours is wired, when you press the brake, does the bumper lights get brighter like the tail lights? Thanks!

finally got my sockets from my parents house. so heres some pics of the job. i took a little different spin then the others but worked great.

i got these 7443 oem sockets that are ment for the center of the tail light but made them work for the rear fog.

i love my dremel, it came in very handy making the hole that works with the twist part of the oem socket. its twists in and out like the taillight.

after some though i decided to cut off the back of the socket to make it easier to solder.

The way I wired mine was for "on all the time", when I press the breake the breake lights become brighter than the bumper lights. Plus don't forget the top breake light . So when I pass a runner i tap on the breake lights to show the bumper lights off.
