They should never touch. Mine are not even close.

Airlift told me they should touch and even sent me an extra set of spacers for the bottom (for free) in case I wanted a little more lift. Figure 4 in the instructions shows the bag installed and touching the bumpstop.
I do agree that with longer springs the bags may not touch the bumpstops. Only problem I could see happening (if the bag isn't sandwiched between the stop and the spacer) is the bottom spacer sliding around and chafing the airline. Since Brock hasn't had any issues as of yet, it may not be a problem with his springs due to the way the coils are wound.
I know with the stock springs, if they are fully extended (wheels off the ground) the spacer can be moved around quite a bit.

That is funny. My father in law hacked mine shorter than I wanted so I called them and they told me the exact opposite! Gotta love call center reps :zoom:
FWIW I have had them for over 20k miles now, towed at least 10k miles with them on, not a single problem.
I would see a flexing issue if they were to be touching, which would be a serious problem off the beaten path. I have on many occasions hit the full flex point with the trailer on coming through washes, if they had been touching the bumpstop with 5psi, they would have not allowed any flex with 25psi in them.
Here is an example of one such occasion. The drivers side stopped when it hit what was left of the bumpstop.

You can find older pop ups for a couple grand on Craigslist. If I could do it again, I would not buy a new trailer. You think your vehicle loses value, get trade in value on a trailer :redbrick:
I hear ya. That "Tee-Pee" thing is cool though. As far as who goes with, maybe smaller is better.

Mike, Are you using a sway control? Do you think it's needed? And are you still using the OEM table? Man that thing is top heavy, guaranteed to tip in the middle of lunch. :ybrick: I'm thinking I'll replace it with the standard leg and base set up though it sucks having that base on the floor.
Also I've been checking out the Forest River forums the last couple days they got some good info/advice over there. I like some of the home made screen door solutions they've come up with over there which is on my list. You'd think Forest River would come up with something eh. They have some pretty good solutions to storage issues too. I have found the Aliner forums pretty useful too.

I use sway control on occasion but not regularly. Not really needed outside of learning to pull the trailer. A quick squeeze of the brake controller stops any sway in my experience.

Yup going to cut it down the rear seems stiffer than it was. Not looking forward to pulling it apart again I think I'll try cutting it in there if that doesn't work then i'll pull it apart again.
Yup agreed but for less than $75 it's cheap insurance.

Did it wrong already, so much for doing it once. :lmao: I was looking at it today looks to be plenty of room to cut it and remove the piece without harming the bag.

Picked up the new camper today and I'm pretty stoked! :reddance:
The truck towed it great on the way home and I didn't have any issues, plenty of power for climbing hills and passing, no sway, good braking etc, guess I'll wait on the sway control. I got the Tekonsha Prodigy3 brake controller (got the dealer to throw it in as part of the deal along with the T4R harness) and man what a sweet controller, my 8 y/o could have set it up its that simple I'm very impressed by how well it works.
The only con, 12.3 average mpg on the way home.
As for the air bags/bump stop....I've left them as is for now. I ran the bags at the minimum 5lbs and had no sag which tells me that yeah I need to cut off another section of the bumpstop so I'll have some room for adjusting the ride. If I wasn't concerned about off-road flex I think I'd leave them be.
Anyhow a couple pics of it behind my truck.:bravo:
