So heres my question of the day. I plan on installing a cb antenna and radio fairly soon. firstly, whats the best way to run the wire, and secondly, my antenna in the front for am/fm radio is pretty shot, any way I can use the cb antenna for the radio as well? I don't know much about radios and antennas if you can tell.

Lots of ways to bring the coax into the truck. Find a grommet in the firewall, or a drain port in the floorboard, or just drill a hole.

You need an FM/CB splitter to use a CB antenna as a radio antenna.

so if i use the splitter both should work? they won't interfere with each other on the same antenna?

Let me know if you need a splitter. I have one that I never ended up using. There's a guy on the FJ Forum who sells antenna kits for this purpose. You go this route you can run the cable through the factory hole. If not, there are plenty of other option for running the wire. On the rear, that easiest way is through the vent on the driver side.

That's what I'm told. Got a buddy with that setup on a Firestik, he likes it.

Mike, if he doesn't want your splitter, I might. I've been thinking about going to a permanent antenna and that'd be a slick way to do it.

It's sitting in the closet, just let me know.

With the splitter you'll be able to use both like normal. However you won't be able to use the CB and the radio together. Also, the CB antenna isn't going to have the range that a normal radio antenna will. It gets the job done though.

If KidV doesn't want it I might take it too I chopped off my stock antenna when I went to the fiberglass fenders

Another consideration, make the coax as short as possible for best performance.

Would you guys recommend putting a firestick (3ft) on the front where my factory antenna is, and then another on the rear (4ft) for the cb, or do you think it is fine enough to split them from one antenna?

also, has anyone replaced their factory antenna with a firestick? any special mounts needed? what did you use for the base of it, etc.
