anyone have 5th gen sr5 with the different 4wd system than 4th gen? we have 4th gen sr5 with what i consider a fantastic 4wd set up. didnt realize until i saw inside of new 5th gen that the 4wd system is different than mine, new limited has similar system to 4th gen. my question if you have the new sr5 with part time 4wd, how does it perform in snow vs the 4th gen system? i like the fact we can run around in snow on ski trips and such in 4hi in 4th gen sr5. thanks for any insight.

I have not had a single problem. Yeah I have to shift it into 4WD or 2WD but that takes what, a split second.
From what it sounds like you should keep that 4th Gen or get a Limited. I know if I were to do it again I would get a Limited just for the Torsen center diff.

The 5th Gen is available with two different 4WD systems. The LE is AWD like the 4th gen, with a limited slip transfer case that may be locked, The SR5 and TE are part time 4WD, operating in 2WD or 4WD when the transfer case is engaged (locked).
There are no issues running on snow, dirt or wet pavement in 4WD with the part time 4WD system, as long as you have some slip between the pavement and your tires. On dry pavement you will experience binding when making sharp turns. I've never owned an AWD vehicle, but several part time 4WD vehicles and have never had a problem using the system on pavement in low traction situations. You can shift between 2WD and 4WD on the fly. Read the manual to get a full picture.
