Questions for the retrofit owners

I recently purchased my 4Runner (well August) and have been contemplating the retrofit route. I had two different retrofits on my previous vehicle. E46 projectors, and then FX projectors. I overall like the output of the 07 projectors on my vehicle, but I really miss having HIDs, and definitely bixenon. I was just wondering what all projectors everyone has on here? Is there an easiest to install?

The FX projectors were a beast to install on my Accord, but obviously the Runner has a much bigger headlight. I still have my old retrofit, and have thought about just tearing it open instead of selling it.

Why not just slap some HIDs in the '07. I know they may not be the best HID projects, but from what I've seen they do a good job.

I did the morimoto d2s first, then swap to rx-afs projectors, some grinding on the housing is involve, but its all about the time and work put in to make it look good.

I have TL bixenons on my 05. Had a problem with the install, so now I only have the low beam. The hi beam solenoids blew up on me. Only way to fix that is to completely replace the whole projector. Maybe next year I'll re-retro them. Anyway, these low beams are incredible! The TL projector is rather big, but WILL fit into the 4Runner headlight. I had them done with lightwerkz. 35W Denso ballasts/4300K. Very happy with them. I have RX projectors on my DD Civic and am very happy with them as well. Same specs, only with lightwerkz ballast (re-badged Morimotos). FX bixenons projectors are very good too.

i dont think the fx projectors are going to fit the 06-09 headlights, i barely got the rx-afs to fit, see my rx-afs retrofit thread. and i just sawp to some 66240 cbi this morning.alot more whiter than the 66240.

todd had use my 4runner on there gallery to show the 5000k and 3000k setup i used to have, the kit is solid no doubt, but when i did retro, it blew those kits away, better spread of light and no more glare.

Ohhh TL projectors are nice. I always liked them but they were wayyyyy 2 big to fit in my gen Accord that I had. It took a decent amount of cutting to get the FX projector to fit. But having the bixenon capability was awesome.

I know if I felt like going a cheaper route then the morimotos would be good. But I am not sure if they would be that much better than stock? I could be wrong though. Another cheap route and easy projector to work with is the TSX, but I have never been a huge fan of it's cutoff. The RX looks great though.

Anybody put HIDs in fogs?

Don't let the crappy iPhone camera fool you. They are no brighter than an OEM lights on, say, a Lexus RX. The beam/spread is tons better though. Properly aimed (still didn't aim side to side), I'm not blinding anyone.

If you want to keep it simple, stay with the stock projectors and get a pnp kit and call it a day. If you want a project and better output upgrade to a better projector.

I did the direct retroquick product from trs with d2s morimotos hooked up to a 50w ballast and 5k bulbs. I really like the output compared to stock...but it takes work to get there.

If u dont have time, do a quick retro with the morimoto d2s, its better than stock since its a true hid projector, but if u want something better than the morimoto, do the rx-afs like me, i have a thread and u can see some vids, i just swap to some osram 66240cbi, these 190 dollar bulbs are better than the 66240 if u like the cool color. I use 5five ballast from the retrofit source. Morimoto is a nice upgrade from stock, but the rx is alot better. Just look at threads i have started and look at the sex thats gona get u off.
