Questions for the SC Guys Here.

I'm gearing up to get my hands on a SC, but I have a couple questions for the SC guys:

1. snout rebuild - are these the parts needed to rebuild the snout SUPERCHARGER REFRESH PARTS THUNDERBIRD, MERCEDES, GTP | eBay ? (don't tell me to send it to magnusson, i've got a press and am more than capable to press in two bearings).

2. 7th injector - if (more like when) I add one, am I able to run on 87 octane, or is 93 required always with the SC (I'm not interested in making 12712389hp with the 5VZ...just want some more grunt).

It depends on which model of supercharger you get. I would stay clear of "universal" parts. Especially on ebay. If you get the 2nd gen black one, Toyota sells a rebuild kit for about 250. I have used that and it comes with a new nose cone with bearings already pressed in and all you do is swap the coupler and toss on the new nose cone.

Yes you need to run premium even without the 7th injector. Can cause severe pinging without it.

+1. I don't know whats involved in a 1st gen SC rebuild but I've read it can be a nightmare. Hell, even Magnuson can't do it right. I don't remember where I read it but theres a guy who sent out his 1st gen SC to get a rebuild by magnuson. The nose cone leaked when he got it back. He ended up sending it back a couple times. Even still, I think he may have just left it. My opinion: avoid the headache and the hassle and go with a 2nd gen SC. Toyota still makes parts and gaskets for 2nd gen.
