Radiator and Eletirc Fan Upgrade

I can't say very much on the 4runner fan swap, but I did do a electric fan swap on my mkiii 2jz supra that I built. I had pretty much the same problems everyone else had. it would overheat when put under a load for any time at all or if I turned the a/c on. went back with a mechanical fan and never had the problem again.

For the valve cover leak:

I too had the same symptoms in the valve cover, it gets oily but no real dripping. What I did was to tighten the bolts with 10 mm box socket with about 8 inch extension. I SIMPLY SPUN THE EXTENSION WITH MY HAND AND DID NOT USE THE WRENCH. IT IS IMPORTANT NOT TO USE A WRENCH AS THIS MAY CRACK THE VALVE COVER WITH TOO MUCH FORCE. I noticed I can turn each bolt about 45-60 degrees more by hand.

After tightening by hand, I do not see any wet oil marks on the valve cover.

AGAIN, DO NOT USE THE WRENCH to tighten the bolts.

Thank you for the info!! I do own my own shop.... so i will be replacing everything with Toyota brand parts, just had to wait till the weekend to get some alone time in my shop!

I'm getting ready to install an aluminum radiator and a set of electric fans. Ran across this used set up in the classifieds for a good price. I also was in need of swapping out my rad due to worry of the dreaded pink milkshake!! Anyway...I've never had any problems running electric fans on my other vehicles...so I figure I shouldn't have any on this one.

I'm not doing the install for extra hp...but I do know I have a S/C to install any week, which makes more horse power than Toyota designers anticipated...so it will help me out there. And I also know that with-in the next year or two...I'll end up putting a V-8 in my 4Runner, which will require me to go electric. Oh and one more reason...I think it looks cool...lol!!

You can buy them from Jegs, Summit, Speedys, ect... The guy I bought this radiator from, dealt with the actual company. He called them up and told them what he wanted/needed. They in turn, custom built his radiator with the fans as a complete unit. I'll tell you this much...this set-up is very very high quality! I couldn't be happier with my purchase!!
