Radiators - Koyo vs The REST

I went with a all aluminum 3row radiator and so far it has been great. $200 but well worth it in my opinion.

I've had crap from all countries. At the same time I've had great stuff from all countries. If you're willing to cough up then they can make good stuff.

For a $100 dollar radiator, I got my money out of it if it lasts five years.

People if you want a real OEM radiator from Japan, your ONLY option is Toyota part 16400-75181. Can be found here:

The rest are either Taiwanese (mid-grade) all made in the same factory regardless of brand (Toyota, Denso, Koyo, TYC)

...Or Chinese made which are the $50 and up ones, which should be avoided.

Yeah a $100 radiator is definitely feasible to make at that price point in Japan. Lol.
 
I just got a "Toyota" radiator from Camelback for my 98 4runner and yes it's a Denso unit made in Taiwan. The interesting thing is the last one I got for my 2000 4runner was also made in Taiwan but it looked just like the original. This Denso one doesn't have the little drain hole on the petcock valve and the cooler fittings look a little different as well. There was also a price difference. The one I got for my 2000 cost me almost $200. This Denso one was only around $120. I bought both radiators from Camelback. I wish they were still selling the other one because it seemed to be a higher quality.

What are the mounting differences between 96-2000 and 01-02? Want to skip the $100 Taiwan part if I can.
 
In doing some checking - my 97 will take part number 16400-75180. This seems to be the Japanese OEM radiator. Sounds good - BUT - every time that number is entered in a Toyota parts business - I am automatically redirected to buy - 16410-AZ011 - its generic replacement.

Thanks for looking out for my finances Toyota - but that's not what I want.:redbrick::redbrick:
 
I can confirm that at this point in time TYC is no longer using the Taiwanese Koyorad and has switched to a garbage Chinese supplier for their radiator part number 1998. So **** them.

That's what I'm finding also. Ebay or Amayama are the only places I know of to get the Japan made 16400-75180 now, but it's $650 + shipping. Ouch.

Hmmmm.... Not bad considering this Japanese original is SEVEN TIMES (with shipping) the price of the generic replacement.

Even if I decided to go this route - no guarantees the radiator could make it from Japan to the US without damage......

Anyone traveling to Japan anytime soon......? LOL..... :pound:

I will be replacing my radiator in the coming months. Just curious if you're still satisfied with this and if you've had any issues?
I appreciate the insight, just trying too figure it which direction to go.
