Radio Upgrades... Let see them.

Missed this. Yes I did. Crutchfield offered two wiring harnesses, one with and one without the steering wheel controls. I got the one with. I think it was $20 more.

I also got the telephone buttons and added them to my steering wheel. The new radio truly functions like the stock one with the buttons.

I've never heard of the telephone buttons. Got pics?

Picked up the Kenwood DDX374BT on Black Friday. Ripped out the Factory JBL system and had a field day wiring up a new setup. Loving the Kenwood so far. Hooked up a cheap backup camera while I was running speaker wire. The Kenwood is a great little monitor for it.

Anyone know the difference between the pioneer AVH-X4800BS 7" for $244 on Amazon and the pioneer AVH-X4500BT 2-DIN for $321?? They also have the pioneer AVHX5800BHS for $285. They all seem like they do the same thing.

5800 is the latest model. get that if you want the full 7 inch screen.
3800 model is good too, but a smaller screen.
both radio should have hd radio, its very good. both have bluetooth and usb and aux. get the micro bypass also to make the radio enable all features.

I did not take any pictures of the install, sorry. I figured someone would have done one by now.

I bought it from Crutchfield and ordered it with their wiring harness with the adapter for the steering wheel controls. You just connect Crutchfield's harness to the radio's harness (I tinned and shrink-wrapped the connections) and you're good to go. It was really very simple with Crutchfield's directions.



I didn't know about that version. Bummer. It is too late though, I threw away the box and the new radio is installed. Besides, 90% of the time I listen to my playlists, Apple radio or Pandora which all sound amazing.

certain radios need certain bypass, some can be grounded like the new nex series, others just need the bypass to work. on the old ass pioneers, grounding the wire and you can watch while driving.

I'm debating one of those or the pioneer avh-3800.

Can't make up my mind which I want. I know I want double din, Sirius, bt, backup camera, and the ability to interface with my steering wheel. I'd also like to color match the factory orange display...I think either brand will do all of the above, though.

It's a minor delay. I don't mind it. Of course I'm 40 and don't have the now, now, now attitude (all the time). I was told the 374 is a little bit faster than the 373. If you want, I can time the delay.

im a pioneer guy and the 3800 is nice, hd radio is pretty good, i want do something new with my radio, maybe add sirius, i use the 3800 on the weekends since its not in my truck, and it sounds pretty good with stock speakers, but still cant compare my truck with a full blown setup. for steering remote integration get the idatalink maestro, also you can change color to match the interior.

Probably, but to return this one I'm pretty sure Crutchfield would require me to return the harness.

they might be able to give you some store credit, call and ask to talk to a advisor that you want to upgrade. they might tell you to pay a little more for the upgrade.
i just did some more reading and it looks like they might charge you a restocking fee.
