That ceiling mounted mic is a great idea, and looks very clean and factory compared to most installs I’ve seen. Where did you get that cover, and what year vette for those that may want to source one (like me)?:thanks:

The grey is a lot lighter but still looks ok. In person, it does not look crooked but does in the photo.

Sounds really good. I used shrinking wire wrap on the mic just leaving the end open and then used electrical tape to wedge and hold as I did not want it picking up vibrations or other noise. Sounds really clear and no back ground noise.

Thanks, that was actually going to be my next question... how’s the sound quality? I was thinking that it may sound muffled because the mic is behind the little grill. Sounds like you did a good job directing it, and isolating it though.:yo:

I have a 2007 sport with the steering wheel controls. I want to gain BT and possible nav and backup cam capabilities. But I’ve always know that going with aftermarket changes the stock impedance and the factory speak RE always sound like crap. What are some good options for head units?

As far as HUs go it's really just personal preference. Hard to go wrong with Kenwood, Alpine or Pioneer.

I got an ANDROID radio from PUMPKIN. Was happy with it for the last 2 years, but recently the screen started to flicker. It's not constant, just 10-20 minutes like once a week. So there is no permanent damage to it, just something that interferes with the screen. But I could not find the cause.
Thinking about replacing it, also since I cannot update ANDROID. Which one is yours?

Has anyone ran their USB port to inside the center console? I thinking of doing this, then drilling a hole so I can run the cable out to that tiny cubby just under the latch with a grommet. I hate having the charging cable flopping all over and getting in my way and my passengers way.
I got the Sony XAV-AX200 and I'm now a huge fan.
They also just updated the software to where I could change color of the buttons which allowed me to match the factory color well enough.
So it looks like the current model is the XAV-AX200SXM. It doesn't mention anything about being able to change colors, does anyone here have the SXM and can verify if you can change the colors to match the factory orange?

I didn’t type out sxm. That’s that model. It was added in a firmware update.
The newest model I think is idatalink data compatible, which the 200 is not. I ended up switching to a kenwood unit.
Yes i ran mine into the console.
I'll warn you that you have to take the entire console out of the truck, disassemble it drill your hole, assemble the USB and reassemble and reinstall the console. None of its hard. The actual console assembly is held in with 4 hex heads (10 mm i think) and the console parts are probably 8-10 phillips screws.
Here is the USB socket I installed in mine.

The Coromose was used to hook into the back of the toyota radio (square plug to USB). Then I used the Batige to get from USB male to USB female inside the console.
Side note, inside the console next to my original AUX plug there is a knock out for a USB. I imagine a square USB may work here but I didnt research into it too hard.

I just bought an alpine ilx-w650. I planned on installing it today but I just read I need a bypass relay for the parking brake nonsense.
Any recommended place to route the USB cable for CarPlay? There are some sweet setups to hide it completely, but I just want it to be an easy install. Thanks

On my Kenwood ddx6705s, I just grounded the brake sensor by connecting it to the metal chassis of the HU. Try that before buying a bypass relay.
I ran my USB to a blank behind the gearshift. See my post on this thread #611:

Thanks, apparently the Alpines and Pioneers need the relay to switch +12v On, then off in order to bypass.
I have my dash apart and the stock radio out. I have what looks like 2 antenna connections? What is the second, smaller connector?
Also, the Scoshe (and Metra per google) conversion wiring harness only has 2 plug in connectors. What is the third one for on the OEM unit?

edit: I did a test fire and reconnected the battery (making sure to plug in the temperature control plug first) to make sure everything was groovy. Truck now has no power!??? Im hoping that something like the 4WD switch breaks a circuit and that it'll all work once everything is reconnected. Im a bit freaked out, fingers crossed
edit2: All good. I ignored the secondary plugs on the harness and antenna like connection. Power was restored when I put the key in the ignition.

T4R has two antenna systems. I just plugged the one regular connector that fits the HU. Reception not as clean as before, but good enough for the rare occasion I use it. Search on this forum and you'll find a long discussion about combining the two antennas. People seem to have mixed results.
I think the 3rd connector is for steering wheel controls, which I do not have. Left it unconnected.
