Rattles and creaks.... How much patience do you have?

I have had a couple rattles and creaks that have become progressively worse over the last few thousand miles. One rattle comming from under the passenger side dash (located it), one rattle coming from under the driver's side dash (not located) and a really nasty constant creak coming from above the B-pillar. My questions are, anyone else out there have these noises?

I have the same issue. I have taken it to the dealer and they claim they don't hear anything. I just don't have the time to keep taking it to the dealer and leaving my truck so they can tell me there is nothing wrong.

+1 on the passenger side rattle and creak...annoys me enough that i always keep the radio on - dealer said they didn't notice it when i asked them to check it out twice...first time they told me it was a leaf under the cabin filter but it didn't go away after it was cleaned up, second time they said they couldn't hear it.

I have the B pillar rattle on both sides, but more noticeable on the passenger side. Kind of like a ticking sound, but doesn't occur all the time. It drives me freaking nuts.

I think that type of thing is pretty dealer specific. My dealers has been fantastic about that type of thing on my wife's matrix, no issues with the 4runner yet.

My questions are, anyone else out there have these noises and if so, is is reasonable to take this issue to the dealer to fix?

No but if i did i would definitely be calling the dealership. For 3 years or 36k they own my rattle

I had mine in for some other things a couple weeks back and told them about the rattle under the glovebox. I marked it with tape and they were able to fix it. Just hoping it doesnt come back. It was very anoying.

I've got a rattle/squeak coming from the front driver's side that I just figured out. It is being caused by one of the fasteners for part of the floppy inner fender splash guard. The passenger side is fine. Now I know it's not a wheel bearing or suspension bushing I'm relieved. I'm a bit surprised it is loud enough to come thru to the cabin.
I also believe this splash guard is responsible for a rattle I've had since new that I only tend to hear on long quiet hwy drives. I may take it off for further investigation.

havent got these noises yet (fingers crossed). but i do have an annoying sound coming from my driver chair. most likely the airbag?

Very dealer specific. My dealer has a guy who almost works full time chasing down and fixing rattles, squeaks, creaks, etc. He is a master at tracking them down and fixing them across the line. It's a real customer service plus when the Service Tech's don't look at you like your a freak when you say you have a noise on your brand new $40K plus ride!

I have 6,800 miles, the rattles became increasingly bad after I hit 5k. It's a huge pain in the ass, the creak coming from my driver's side b-pillar is loud enough to be heard over the radio at normal volumes and when I listen to audiobooks. Now if I only had the time to let the dealership fix it, I would do it myself but I am weary of removing the headliner.

I'm sorry you guys have rattles!
I, on the other hand, have been extremely impressed with my rattle free 4Runner. Everytime I think I have a rattle, it turns out to be something I placed in the door cubbyhole, or tools in the back clanking around.

It's even more impressive when you consider that I have yanked most of my interior apart about a dozen times and ran about a mile of wiring throughout the truck. Toyota goes to great lengths with it's interior panels to keep them quiet. There are felt pads everywhere, and even the plastics they use plays a factor. Everything actually fits the way it should too! You should have heard my Titan after a year of Mods. My wife called it the "Junk Wagon". :lmao:

Over 5400 parts of all sizes and materials and after 20K not a rattle. Sorry about your rattle and hope you get it fixed. Wind noise, water leaks and rattles are the hardest to fix.

I had the same squeak as well. It drove me crazy. I ended up putting a dab of silicone between the fastener and the frame and it took care of the problem.

I've got a slight ticking sound, but I can't locate it. About a month ago, I started hearing squeaking. Louder and louder. It's driving me nuts.

Last night I noticed it only did it when my 12 year old boy was in the back. Hmmm. After a little investigating, it looks like its the passenger rear seat. I can move the back a little without releasing the recline system, and it squeaks every time.

I don't know it it's worth telling the dealer. All they will do is put some white grease on it anyway. I can do that myself. lol

2011 SR5 4x4, 12,200 miles. Squeek coming from righ front (outside), around the front wheel area. Sounds like a cherping noise. Does with and without brake application.

13K miles, just the lumbar squeak and the silver trim on the steering wheel feels a bit loose.
