Thats my plan, cut out also for the driveshaft. My goal is to save weight, but if a light weight option is available I will maybe jump on that.

I already cut out a 7"w x 4"H space for the DS towards the back.
Now it will hit the new one. LOL

You'll have a chance in a few weeks. I should have a GB started in late October for RCI.
I'd be skeptical about the long-term durability of aluminum skids. Even my 3/16" steel skid plates could use some additional reinforcement in spots.
Depending on the details of this product, I could be interested in the group buy as well. Im also interested in LCA mount skids.

Aluminum has it's places. If it's the correct specs and built right though, it can easily handle a lot of the stuff we throw at it. I wouldn't hesitate putting it on my rig.

It's possible. My fill ups are rarely more than 62 litres or 16.4 gallons. I feel like LCA mounts are even more important to protect than the gas tank though. Bent suspension mounts are no good and the LCA mounts take more hits than the gas tank in my opinion. They hang down right beside my rock sliders which is where I try to place rocks on the trail

I just talked to Josh about this skid, and it's not going to be ready in time for the new Fall Group Buy.
However, when these are ready we're going to run a special on them. While they're not going to be included on the GB, there will be an upcoming sale for them when they come out.
I'm also hoping to get a price point for them to let you know.

I'm reviving this old thread to see who is still interested. With enough interest we can get this happen as a special run. The design is ready, but this will NOT be a production item. The more interest (or committed members) the better chance we have of getting these going.

Do you have any specs on the the gas tank skid? Steel, aluminum, stainless, thickness, weight, & does it bolt on where the OEM skids are? I'm getting custom bolt on sliders made & wanting to make sure it won't interfere with the rear slider leg near the gas tank. If it's in the same oem location it'll be fine. I'm interested in aluminum, stainless or anything lightweight. Any design draft pics?
