Re-geared guys, what rpms ??? 4.56 question

I need to order my gears... Need definite answer to make my choice properly.

For those that have re-gear to 4.56 and pls post tire size pls...

What rpm are you at when going 70mph, 75mph and 80mph ???

Gear Ratio Calculator

285/70/17 MTRs. 75mph is about 2600 rpm. Duratracs are smaller in the same size, so you may be a bit more RPMs.

70 - ~2250
75 - ~2450
80 - ~2600

BTW, this is not what my spedo reads... It was pretty accurate with 33s, but is off a bit now with the 34s.

And yes, it is quite a bit higher with the 285 duratracks. maybe another 100-150 rpms. 34s seem like a better match for 4.56. But it really has some get up and go with the Duratracks.

If you want to do some hard core wheeling I can't say enough good things about the MTRs. They are a game changer.

With 285/75's (34") and 4.56 gears, my speedometer is reading a speed at 7.07% slower than my actual speed.

I will go with the 4.56 gears... I will be taking off my body lift because of head aches; I encountered with the lift. And will most likely only be able to run 33's ... I'll stick with 4.56...

Why can you only run 33s with a stage 7 lift? Just curious what your reasons are. I don't have a BL and run 34s and so do a few others.

Well I want 33x12.5 tires...
I heard the 34's require some fire wall modifications which I'm hesitant to do...

I would definitely love to be able run 34" tires but would content with 33x12.5

No firewall mods as far as I know. I'd say just the body mount chop.

Exactly. Lots of plastic trimming and some pinch weld smacking but no firewall mods.
