On my SR5 V6 4x2, it is much easier to get through mud/etc. with the traction control turned off. With it out as soon as i get in some mud it won't barely let me move because it senses loss of traction and automatically tries to decelerate until it regains traction, but it can't... Luckily on the V6 you had a button to turn it off, as long as you are going under about 20mph, or it will just come on by itsef. With traction control turned off I can rev as much as I want, until I can get enough wheelspin to regain traction. So in off-roading, espescially on 4x2s, the traction control works against you.
