Real World MPG with 5th Gen?

Currently 15.98 mixed mostly city/trail
I use CarXpenses. It easy to use, tracks fuel, and any other expense you ant to track. Its like 3 bucks.

Still getting around 16.3 mixed driving , F-n cheap gas didn't last long here back up to 2.30 + oh well nice for awhile ! OIL co. were going broke again .

Bumping this.... really kind of mystified why my mpg sucks so bad...
~2500 on the ODO and I'm lucky to get 12mpg (currently 10.3). 100% stop and go traffic but I try to keep it in the 'eco zone' as much as possible and below 1500 rpm... i really dont understand why its so low?
I did run one tank of 91 octane but then switched back to 87 about 5 tanks ago... wondering if i should unplug the battery to reset the ECU or maybe reprogram it with scangauge or something similar....? thoughts?

Apologies as I haven't read anywhere near this whole thread, but thought I'd toss my results in the mix:
Utility racks on the roof absolutely KILL mileage ha! I have a Bajarack flat utility rack on mine w/ the front air deflector and have lost 3+ mpg. Doesn't seem to matter if I'm around town or highway, I get right around 17-17.5 mpg's (this is calculated by filling up to visually seeing fuel in filler neck each time divided by miles driven).
Even on road trips (where aerodynamics are a big factor) I'm only seeing the same 17ish, probably because I do cruise at 75+mph on most trips. The additional wind noise is a dead giveaway too!
But, still love the rack, very useful (and looks great) and otherwise I'd be stuck driving a truck (need to be able to haul long material for work), so not complaining but simply reporting in.
All above results are with 87 octane fuel.

I'm getting about the same myself on a bone stock 2015 LE. Mind you, it's brand new and has been pretty cold here so I'll give it a bit before j go complain to the dealer.

That is why, idling and accelerating kills mpg faster than anything else.
even stop and go i dont bury my foot in the throttle but damn i was hoping for a lot better than this... my 95 pathfinder gets better mileage than this.

some fills its 13 some its 16...but 15 seems the avg AND the norm.
i do a pretty even mix of city and highway on every tank.
I'm told once the engine is broken in (ill give it till 5k miles for anyone that thinks its anything past 2k miles) and summer gas i should see 19! because thats what all pre 2014 4Rs get and nothing changed on 2014-15 4runners, so thats it....science.

I'm getting 17.8 to 18.3 calculated mileage (yes I am anal enough to keep a log along with my maintenance history) and I drive mixed city/highway; I'd say 60/40 highway. I am stock other than CAI and exhaust. Before the addition of those parts I was in the 16s. I have just under 3k on the ODO

Seriously, stop and go hilly roads and low temperature will bring the mpg down. We had it darn cold and hilly roads the whole town.

My mpg has steadily decrease. It was first in the high 19's when I got the truck, now, as it, I avg 17.1. I can no longer replicate anything close to 19 no matter how i drive.
I'm seriously considering looking into the TRD CAI as some report that they are getting better increase mileage.

I've officially run the gamut:
Break-in period (and "First new truck - Oh my God I'd better be careful" period) easily averaged in the 20MPG range with 90% freeway miles and a very ginger foot ("Egg under your foot" / "Grandma ECO" style driving). Had many comments from passengers on my "Grandma" driving style during this period (this is very unexpected from moi!).
Now: "I need to get to work, GTF out of the way" mode can net me 16 down to 14-ish (
). Time is money (especially when talking MPG in this beast!!! :cowboy: )...
Still gets better MPG than my '99 TRD Taco with the 5VZFE driven with the same driving habits. That's surprising considering way more weight and way more power in the T4R...
