Real World MPG with 5th Gen?

I don't have a snorkel yet in my rig but in my last Jeep JKU I had one and the mpg improved by 1.4 miles. So this is true. Plus, the engine get cooler and breath better.

I previously posted in the Real World MPG thread that I was getting 12.9 mpg (computer display and manual calculated validated) for months.

I'm running Cooper STT Pro 285/70/17 tires, Gobi rack, full armor (front, tranny, t-case, fuel tank and rear diff) plus Relentless low profile winch bumper.

I've had the Safari snorkel on since late Saturday and my computer has updated for the first time in months. It's now showing 13.6 mpg, a gain of 0.7 mpg or a 5.4% improvement.

Anyone else with the snorkel showing gains? I just filled up this morning and reset both mpg and trip odometer so I can manually verify again on my next fillup.

The snorkel's going to pay for itself in 3.62 years (at 12,000 miles per year and at $3.05/gallon). LOL

All of this was covered in the other thread (did we really need another thread?) Yes there's a SLIGHT MPG increase. Everyone complains about how it looks, but it does improve MPG and we saw a very tiny increase on the dyno as well.

I am planning a purchase and going with aggressive tires. On past vehicles I have noticed about a 2 mpg hit versus hwy tires so expect the same with this one.

Or the calculator on your smartphone. :wink2:

Reset the reading every fill up or it will just read an overall mileage from the last time it was reset.

2017 TRD Pro with 275 KO2s and 1,000 miles on the odometer. Rocking a pretty consistent 12-13mpg (almost entirely city)--a little disappointing given that I'm easy on the throttle, but I didn't buy my 4R for fuel economy

I get about 13.1 miles per gallon or 285 miles per tank of Premium. I like Premium so please don't comment about whether or not it is a waste of money.

This past weekend, filled up and headed to the mountains and back on a tank of gas. ODO said 274.3 miles with less than 40 miles remaining at 15.3 mpg. Not bad for a fully armored beast. But it actually gets better than that, after adjusting for the tires & gears for an accurate calculation, total miles 293.69 miles at 16.09 MPG. That's going from about 20' in elevation to over 7,000' in elevation on a two lane road. Just keep your foot out of it!

I have been hitting about 300 miles per tank with somewhat vigorous driving. I feel like I can get a bit more miles out of my 4runner but then I'd be holding up traffic everywhere.

I just installed my TRD CAI so let's see how this affects my range/MPG. I definitely feel a bit more *umph* when I press the gas.

Now I know it's not the most accurate thing, But I'm the most aggressive driver I know.... There's idle and there's full throttle.... Same for the brake... My readout on the truck averages about 19mpg... I think the worst I've seen is 17...'17 TRD Off Road btw
