Rear Bumper Impact Absorber with SafeTcap

I've ordered the SafeTcap rear corner pieces for my '06 v8.I realized after removing the bumper cover that there is no impact absorber which is indicated in parts diagrams. I might order one, unless it won't work with the extra metal at the corners. Can anyone advise?

I would assume you could probably just cut the ends off of it if the kit makes the frame too wide. I'd probably also zip-tie it to the frame itself.

When I took my OEM bumper off, I didn't even have one!
