[Off-Camber]

Camera relocation issue! It appears the earlier model 5th gens may have a different back up camera mounting pattern. I have a 2012 Limited and my camera base is way larger than the Victory bracket mount and the tiny screw locations are wider from side to side but short from top to bottom. It also has different keying to make sure the camera is oriented correctly.

I am interested to hear what the fix is from Victory. Please post it here in case others have the same issue.

Customer service has been very responsive. I was told to dremel the top plate overlapping the sleeve. Went out to buy the dremel tool needed and grinded out the overlap. Bad news is that it exposed an opening between the top plate and the sleeve as pictured below. Good news is, the spindle now drops in. I don't know if doing this has compromised any sort of structural integrity of the sleeve to the weight of the swing out. I emailed Victory 4x4 yesterday after business hours so I'm guessing I won't hear back until next week. Below is a picture of before grinding and after grinding.

And since I'm impatient, I went ahead and installed everything I received. Both swingouts, dual jerry can holder, table, and wired the rear scene lights. Only have pictures of the swing out installed. I also installed edge trim on the bumper cuts.

That looks great. What trim did you use for the edge? On a whim, I bought some weather stripping to do the same but it’s been raining

Oh no! This will probably be an issue for my 2012 TE. What do you think the fix is going to be?

I bet the structural integrity is still intact and it will be fine. I am also willing to bet that the sleeve is welded on the other side to the top plate and the small exposed opening is just where the 2 pieces of metal came together.

Correct, the structural integrity won't be affected there. The spindle is welded at the top and bottom to the bracing inside the bumper.

I've been emailing with Mitchell and offered up my camera as a template since I already pulled it off and its setting in a box. Expecting to hear something back on Monday.

If I get a bumper with tire carrier, I'm not going to move the backup camera.
This is the first vehicle I've owned with one and for me it's a novelty.
Mirrors have been sufficient for me for 45 years of driving.
Had a camper on my pickup for 30 years so no inner middle mirrors. Just the doors.
Also, I'm an OTR truck driver so I'm used to mirrors.

I figured that's the easiest and cheapest method. When I noticed the mount was wrong i said to myself, "I'll just jump on the Toyota Parts page that has discount OEM parts and buy the later model camera that fits the mount".

Then I saw the price tag between $480 and $800. :faint:

So I decided if I offer it up maybe they will go ahead and make a different mounting plate saving me from buying a new camera....Or doing without. :shrug:

Silly question. My son chipped some of the powder coat on the bumper. How should I tackle repairing it? Sand it, wash it, prep it? Then cover with rust resistant paint?

Yes! Rustoleum Textured Black paint matches the powder coat very closely. Just clean and touch up the affected area.

I was able to mount the mud flaps using three of the original 10mm bolts and locations. I then used zip ties to further secure the other two holes. I haven’t driven with them yet so we will see how it holds up. (Don’t mind the ugliness of the trim. I’ll be fixing it)
