Rear ended

Driving home from work and there was mild traffic near an in ramp. Slowed to a stop then bam, some guy in a Tercel decided to hit me. Pulled over to inspect and found nothing. The guy admitted he wasn't paying attention. I think he hit the hitch. Should I take it to toyota to inspect frame or random shop? Oh, didn't call the police but I got his info and phone number. He is willing to settle outside of insurance.

Greetings,
I had the same thing happen to me earlier this year. Was stopped at a red light when a teen txting rear ended me. About a 15 mile an hr impact. Enough to crack the bumper causing 2900.00 damage. Not likely you had any frame damage but always good to let a good body shop guy give it a once over. I didn't even notice the crack until the body shop pointed it out. Also, purely a personal opinion but I always get a police report to document for insurance purposes after an accident. I learned years ago that "gentleman" agreements to pay for damage don't always materialize. When I did this without a police report the offender turned around stated the accident wasn't his fault and refused to pay. His insurance company also refused to pay stating it was his word against mine. So live and learn. Sorry your runner experienced this. Had mine only one month (new) after this occurred.

I agree 100%. Takes the he said she said out of the loop when it comes time to deal with insurance/court. When it comes to money, people are hard to trust...

Insurance companys will do whatever they can to get out of paying. This last November I was t-boned (in a Nissan Altima Coupe) by a Dodge Ram 1500. He ran a red light, slammed into us (me and pregnant girlfriend) and pushed us into another car driving the opposite direction as me.

It was more than obvious he ran the red light and even admitted on the scene that he looked away and didn't see the red light. But when it came down to the insurance paying out, they were claiming me and the other car both ran the red light and he (dodge ram) had the right of way. I was so furious.

Ended up getting a lawyer. Got everything settled. Had to give sworn statements of how I knew we had the green light.

I agree.... we got rear ended in the wifes lexus... just a little ding, lady said she would pay to have it fixed and her daughter was in our daughters class so we though ok cool.... she called a few days later with her insurance company information and when we called they said that their client claimed to have been rear ended and that pushed her into us.... no police report so we got zilch! I verbally assaulted the whore the next time I saw her but I still had to pay for the repairs

Got rear-ended two times already, good thing all low-speed.
This saved my rear-end. Both of them :whipping2

Yes, it'll bend if being in contact at an angle. There is a shorter version though.

That item saved my bumper, when a vehicle was testing how close it could get.

you right I hit it at angle,I used to have superbumper but sold it with old truck,
that truck got rearended once, SB absorbed impact completelly and bounsed back, no damage whatsoever.
