Rear gate idea

Used to have a Subaru Outback. It's rear gate had an awesome bar on the bottom outside of the rear gate door. The thing was extremely useful and very simple concept. They put them on Foresters too I think (not sure what year models). Since I have a black 4R, the bar would definitely keep my hands from smudging on the paint every time I close the rear gate door, something I use probably ten times a day. See picture of Subaru bar. I would like to put something like this on my T4R rear gate door. Has anybody done anything like this yet? Apologies if something like this is in another thread...

Use one of the 2 handles on the inside of the door when you close it... I believe that is why they are there.

you still have to shut it closed by putting your hand(s) on the finish unless you slam shut using the inner handles....

I use the handles to pull the tailgate down - then place my hand on the license plate and push it to close. Pretty simple... no finger prints or scratches.

Yep! This is just what I do also. Pretty simple actually.

What is wrong with slamming? I use the inside handles and well then I press the button to start the car.......

I hire a guy with a microfiber to clean the rear hatch everytime I shut the door. Very simple mod.

Would also be good for tying down the rear gate door when you are carrying something that is too big for it to close all of the way...but agree with you all that it is LOW priority...I wouldn't even think of it if I hadn't already had one on another vehicle...

Personally seeing those Subies with that handle on the tailgate make me laugh. Let's put a bar on the tailgate... not so cool IMO - kinda like Susan Boyle before.... no make that before and AFTER her fame.

Ha! I sometimes used to be embarrassed to have a Subaru Outback. Definitely not a very masculine vehicle, but sure was a good one with good quality features that made sense. Certainly not embarrassed any more with the T4R...especially after I get some new tires on that puppy...
