Has anyone else used the new King Shock guard? Is replacing the rod ends something that a King servicer should be able to do or do they need to be sent back to King? It's my DD and I can't really have prolonged down time.
replacing the rod end is a major *****, and there's a good chance you can destroy the shaft if the proper soft jaws aren't used.
The next time I order shafts, I'm ordering them with rod ends attached from King.
Ok. Thank you for that beta. When it comes time to replace them I will seriously consider who I choose to do it.

The spherical bearing needs to be removed first, and then heat is used to burn off the red loctite. I needed a 4' breaker bar to twist it off, after a few heating cycles. The soft jaws have to hold the shaft unbelievably tight so that I could use a breaker bar this length.
If whoever services your shocks is confident that they can do the work, and they have done the rod ends before, go for it. I would say the rod end is the hardest part to replace on those shocks.

does anyone know if the BPF shock guard will work with the king shock guard? I currently have the king shock guard but deciding if I should get BPF or FJ toyman.
Looking to get the BPF's but wished they had slightly more coverage.
Have you reached out to them to see if they can extend the guard higher up? I'd definitely be down for a set if they could.
