I have a 02 sport 4wd. is it normal for my rear to be bouncy? when im on the freeway and go over a overpass, i feel that my rear bounces high. It almost lift the passengers on my back seats of the seat.

Im thinking about replacing my rear shocks. Whats a good set of rear shocks to go with? Im looking for something a little stiffer. Thanks

Depends on your budget. Rancho RX9000XL's are selectable where you can manually adjust from soft ride (1) up to the stiffest ride (9). I have a set of Rancho RS5000's that I removed from my rear 2002 that are like new. I am asking $50 for the pair if you are interested in trying them.

X3 on the Rancho 5000 series...but check Amazon.com(oddly enough) before you buy....got mine for cheap from there!

i was considering trekmaster shocks. how are ranchos compared to trekmaster shocks? im 99% onroad so would like a comfortable street ride. thanks

so if im looking for a smooth soft ride for street only... would people recommend a rancho shock or some say monroe sensatracs rode very nice. i don't know what to go with??? any help

Just installed (this morning) Bilsteins in the rear and i must say, they are great. Will be doing the front later this week. Purchased them at Shox.com since they seem to have the best prices.

Since it's probably overdue before you end up replacing your shocks(it was with me) any new shock is going to feel better. That being said, I have a pair of KYB Gas-A-Just rear shocks off of my 98 that are in fairly new condition(only a few months on them, no off road at all) that I would like to get rid of. Offers? I just want them to go to a good home!:cowboy:

hey fonerunner. what would you say is the quality of kyb gas adjust for the rears?? soft, still, little of both. did you like them???

i just looked at my shocks and i actually have kyb gas adjust on the front. for the rear it looks like a rancho shock. these are the shocks ive had on since i bought the 4runner about 40k miles ago. so i have nothing to compare them to. im putting a 1.5" top mount daystar lift up front and wondering if i need to get new shocks for the front while the spacers are installed. i don't know how old the current shocks are but to me it still rides ok i guess. i do feel the front rides better than the back. should i get kyb for the rear and call it a day? not too much $ right now so kinda on a budget. what do you guys think?

Try to talk to the Previous owner because both KYB and Rancho have lifetime warrenties on their shocks, so all you need is the reciept and to play it off that you were the one that bought the shocks and you can get a new set of each if they are worn.

Thinking hard between Rancho 5000 and Bilsteins for my 99. cannot make up my mind. Bilsteins in front going in this week as my crappy gabriels blew up, so... might just make them match with Bilsteins all the way around. advice?

i bought the 4runner about 4years ago from a small dealer in a state i don't live anymore. i hardly doubt that would be worth it to try to find a receipt. thanks for the tip though. anyone know if monroe sensatracs would ride better than kyb or ranchos??? on street only

i'm a big fan of the bilsteins. i had the standard HD's in my old 2000. they rode really well on the road and worked very offroad too. now i have the 5125's on my 1997.

Bilstiens are a really nice shock, but you pay for it, i am perfectly fine with my lifetime warrentied $80 Rancho's, but i would venture to say that the bilstiens are more $ for a reason.

roger that, I think I will go with Bilsteins all the way around. was thinking of throwing on a Daystar 1.5 inch lift. but not sure I want to mess with it. would only be for looks.
