rear wiper/rear defrost no worky....

um, so the rear wiper/defrost/wash stopped working on my '03 T4R today. well, I think it was today. I added a set of IPF driving lights last night. my wife just got back from running errands and asked what I did to the rear wiper. I just went out and checked all the fuses I could find, but nothing changed. seeing as how it's the wiper, wash, and defrost that don't work, I'm thinking it's a wiring harness issue? perhaps a ground went bad? but then, my rear lights still work.

When you disconnected the battery to install the IPF's the Powered accessories need to be normalized.

Power interruption usually effects the sunroof,power windows,rear window and rear wiper,etc.

Try rolling down the back window a few times and hold that switch down for a second or two and hopefully it will get the rear wiper and defrost back on line.

Also, check to make sure the rear window is all the way up. If the window isn't rolled up completely, the rear washer/wiper and defroster will not function.

This came up in another thread a few days ago ... glad that I am not the only one who was initially stumped by this. Battery disconnection is most likely the root cause. Normalization procedure is in this link (and also the owners manual).

huh, go figure. I went out to the garage after my last post. everything worked perfectly. cool. yet weird at the same time. never heard of "normalization".

Not sure about the 03's but there should be a sticker on the fan shroud in the engine bay warning about battery disconnection.

Should say normalization.
