Receiving text/e-mail "on screen" via entune

I've read this, but not sure I understand. My text options on Entune are grayed out and the manual says the Iphone won't work.

Is anyone getting on screen texts with an I-phone5. If so how?

Also, is it "unusual" for the Entune/Nav to lock up and go into re-boot? I've got around 600 miles and have seen it a few times (I think.) Latest last night. I did an update a few weeks ago.

Also the Nav can't make up its mind between Day and Night mode at night with the headlights "on." The "night" mode sucks, and don't see any setting to change the color scheme from black with blue streets, i.e. illegible mode.

As far as your phone there is no reason why it shouldn't work. Try deleting the phone connection on the Entune and delete your Entune Bluetooth connection from the phone and do a fresh pairing and you should see the message on the Entune about enabling messaging.

Just checked my IP5 Bluetooth settings and the "enable notifications" slider was off. Maybe this will allow it to work?

I was able to get the text message feature to work through bluetooth and entune with my iPhone 5. However, the email feature is still unavailable under apps. I was told that the iPhone 5 does have the map protocol to allow email to work. Does anyone have a definite fix for this or know of any additional steps that need to be taken to get the email to work?

Can you easily toggle the text set up on and off? I can envision not wanting incoming texts on the screen, depending on who is in the vehicle (you can envision some scenarios: kids, boss, parents, etc). Yes, there is that power button to turn the system off, but i havent tried the text set-up so not familiar with the operation.

I like it because you actually type a reply. Now that being said I can only do it because I have a galaxy S4 the iphone does not allow you to reply thru the entune system. Just like I don't a cable in order for the entune to work but with the iphone you have to it connected.

I could be wrong but the email portion will not work. It does not even work with the galaxy S4 probably with Blackberry or so, but I do not think it has to do with MAP. Now just for general knowledge if you are like me and do not clear out your text messages, after a while you will see the notifications that you have received a text message but the messages would not update on the screen while the vehicle is on. When you turn restart the vehicle the message will appear. That is because the system can only handle a certain amount of text messages. I fixed it when I accidentally deleted all my messages on my phone and then it started working. My 2013 avalon updates all the time go figure.

For those with the entune/nav option and who also use an iPhone, are you able to receive (read) text and e-mail messages on your nav screen? For whatever reason, entune will not load my texts/e-mails onto my nav screen. Not a big deal in the scheme of things, but I'm just curious if others have experienced the same entune synching anomaly.

Try updating entune. We had to update the entune software to work with iOS 7 with the 5s

I have an iPhone 5s with latest iOS 7 and the text notification function works for me.

I also have the latest version of Entune but not sure if this makes a difference. After the first USB update they sent on a USB drive, the Entune system can now update over the air, but you need that first USB-drive update to be able to do these non-USB updates. I did this about a month ago before I picked up my iPhone 5s so I can't comment on weather it works or not without the latest Entune.

Also, if you are still having trouble, try following those instructions I posted earlier in the threads. Some of the steps may be unnecessary but that procedure hasn't failed me yet.

I am only over bluetooth. The text message notification function worked on my 4s and now it also works on my 5s over bluetooth.

Also, I was able to get Entune over bluetooth working but you have to have access to the Personal Hotspot on your iPhone, which for some plans costs extra money. It's built into my business plan so we don't have to pay for it.

No tethering at all for me.

They should be over the air updates now. At least my latest update was. The first one I had to do was from the USB stick they mailed me, but that basically updated the system to allow them to send updates over the air now.

What version of Entune are you running?

EDIT: I have version 2.2, I have seen around a few corners of the web version 3.x but only in Camry's on TW forum.

Also, I'm sure it would help to be on the latest Entune update with iOS7 as I am. I never tested iOS7 without the latest Entune update so I cannot comment on that.

This should get your texts working, but I know the email function doesn't work yet. Although I haven't tested it on the new iPhone OS or the new Entune update. I'll try it out again since it's been awhile.
