Refill AC on a 97 V6 Limited 4runner

Hey guys, I was hoping someone could tell me how and where I need to refill the AC on my 4runner.
I believe I found where to hook the refill can up to. (Upper Left side, looking from the front of the truck)
Just wanted to make sure I am hooking up to the correct valve and anything else I need to know.

Yep. That's it. It should have a "L" on the cap for low.
Be sure to have your AC running on full blast when you refill it. This creates the vacuum that sucks in the new refrigerant/lube.

x2 the high side and low side are different sizes so you can't get them confused.

I just did my '99. The '99 FSM gives a spec of 35psi on the low side (after you do the metric conversions). That's what I did--first charge since new in 1999, and it is new truck strong. 35psi was only to the very bottom of the green zone on my Wal-Mart refill can, which recommended a higher pressure.

So I suggest you go only to 35psi and see how it does. You can always add more.

I used this. It worked great on my 2002.

I only needed one can. (Actually 2/3 of a can) But your results may vary. Some are sold with a reusable gauge and hose. So, if you need more than one can, you can just buy the cheaper can that is sold without the hose and gauge.:thumb3:

That's exactly the one I bought at Wal-Mart. Total system capacity is 22.92oz.±1.75oz. so 18oz. is good for anything short of a totally empty system--in which case you need to fix the leak, evacuate it and change the receiver/dryer. I only used maybe a third to a half on mine, but it was still working, just not very well. Now it's great.
