Yup.. Fell in love with a 5th gen!!
And wanted to sell while I could still get a decent amount for it. she is missed...

Save the Land Cruiser, the 4Runner is as reliable as you can get. I'm at 66k on mine and will have it well past 100k. It still feels like the day it came off the lot.

Toyota reliability
My first gen, first year Tundra was 15 yrs old when I sold it. Not a lot of miles (130,000) but no issues, short of two exhaust sensors replaced by Toyota under a TSB. Had a '89 Celica GT-S , 17 yrs when I totaled it smoking a 300ZX, still miss that car! Current toy is a 2006 Corolla X-RS ,only about 30,000 mi but 100% reliable with many mods. My 4Runner was previously owned by my father, he bought it new when he traded his 2001 Limited 4Runner with approx 450,000 mi , no issues what so ever driving 9 yrs in northern Ohio winters. Still looked & drove like new when he traded.
The biggest reason you buy Toyota is peace of mind in the reliability department.

My TEP is my first Toyota. I love it however for years I was unimpressed with Toyotas car lineup. Still am for the most part as it's just BORING and uninspiring. Reliability isn't always my deciding factor as I've owned many Saabs and could care less about how quirky they were. I'm not normally a truck guy unless it's vintage (see scouts, Land Cruisers, Broncos, etc) but I sure do love my 4R. This will probably be the first vehicle I hold on to past payoff. :whoo:

2012 Limited, 60,000 miles. Driven like a grandpa on the public roads, but it's been through a share of rock crawling, muddy water pits, and other typical off-road hooliganisms.
The only things that required replacement were the windshield wiper inserts. Bought online, did it myself. Super cheap.
Oh, and the driver's door lock motor thing died, but that was $4 and 1 hour to repair. Not bad.

I have a 16 with 20k miles. Only issues I have had is a hard reset needed for entune and at one point the rear hatch gasket came loose and got lodged in the hatch latch making getting the hatch open impossible through normal means. The dealer replaced the gasket and now I check my gasket every now and then to see if it's working loose.
The only things I am concerned about are cosmetic. The cheap feeling plastic on the center console already has scratches on it and I feel like I have taken care to avoid scratching it but alas, it happened. I also am concerned about the MGM paint, but I think that is a concern not so much about the 4runner as it is for all of the modern paints being used on cars. My son was just born and I hope to give this car to him when the time comes. Also, my previous car was a 1996 4runner with over 300k on the clock. Nothing but battery changes, a timing belt, and some ujoints outside of regular maintenance.
