Relocating plug for towing help

I got the same hitch as you. I remoevd the two bolts that hold the "socket" onto the metal bracket, then it will slide downward out of the bracket.
I then bought an adapter cable, since my boat has a flat-4 connector. The cable is a coil type that allows it to extend up to 3-feet. So, when I tow I kind of let it dangle at socket, then feed the coil cable over the Curt hitch.
Not very user freindly but I do not tow that often. When finished, I remove the adapter cable and push the Socket back up into the bracket. It stays there without the bolts OK. Out of sight, out of mind.

Check the E-trailer site. They have an adapter mount for the wiring harness plug that clamps to the round or square tube of the hitch that allows the plug to be placed in an easily accessible location. I had to use one when I upgraded to a frame mounted hitch from the standard oem V6 hitch. Just be aware that you might have to remove one of two of the wire harness supports alongside the spare tire to get enough harness length to allow it to move to the new location.

I have the same hitch and adapted the stock wiring hanger. I removed the metal hanger plate and took the wiring harness out of it. Then bend the hangar so it is almost flat. Reinstall wiring and hangar back in stock position. It will be up and behind the hitch which makes reach a little more difficult (may need extension for trailer) but it's unseen leaving a nice clean look.

I did this same thing last weekend with my Curt hitch install. Bending that bracket upward toward the tuck floor was TOUGH for me though with the tools I had on hand. But it is working now, and the cable extension (basic 4 wire) should do the trick--i found one at Wal Mart for like $5. I didn't want the wiring plug exposed/visible from the rear either since I don't use it that often.

Thanks for all the help on here people. I installed the Curt hitch in my 07 sport in 15 minutes today. I will take the advice from the guys above regarding light socket bracket relocation. Highly suggest the Curt for aftermarket installations.
