Remote Start - Bring the heat

q 4runner

Morning. We picked up my wife's highlander last week and stayed away from the factory remote start, (heard bad things about the series when I bought my 2010 4runner).

I was wondering, have the factory ones changed at all, and if so, would you recommend. Also, how does that work with a push button?

Thanks again in advance.

I have the factory remote start and wish I would have installed Compustar. It drives me crazy that the truck turns off when I unlock the doors to enter.

I had it in my 2012, the most annoying about it is that you have to remember the night before to set your defrosts, heat and or seat heat if equipped so that when you do remote start; it's set to do what the whole purpose of remote start was intended. Plus it shut off after 10 minutes (programmable maybe?)

I don't know but my wife's 2007 GMC Yukon has factory remote start that when you start it, it will detect the temperature outside and adjust accordingly; cold outside? Heated seats on, windshield front, rear and mirrors defrost activated. Hot outside? AC full blast! I'm envious of this. Does anyone know if Compustar offers this feature?

If so, I want!

A couple of things to consider: I would research this well before adding this. Make sure the unit has a good track record and the install is done by competent techs that have experience with Toyota systems. Check to see if there are issues with the remote range over time.

Also some places have laws now about a running vehicle with nobody in it; due to safety and high theft issues.

definitely has to be done by a competent tech that has installed the aftermarket system a few times. Knock wood, I had this wired into to my 3rd gen 5 speed over 12+ years ago and I have never had an issue with it ever.
