Remote Starter for 97

I am looking for a remote starter for a 97 4Runner with the factory keyless entry/alarm system. Does anyone know if it is available and where?

I went in to look for a Remote Starter for my .o2 and my options were to install a new Alarm System w/ the remote starter or to add an independent remote starter with a separate remote and it cost practically the same as a new alarm system, so I think I would be going with the new complete alarm system. The Toyota one is just a glorified Remote Entry.

i do not think there is one. i may be wrong however. The cloest thing to that is the Viper alarms. Im sure you already know of them.

There are a few alarm companies out there. The stand alone one was Audiovox, and you would have had to unlock the door, then remote start. Not worth the money, plus you would have two remotes, the Remote starter, AND the toyota remote. Too much fuss. If I was to install remote start, I would just install a new alarm. They start about $350 for good ones. Plus who knows how much install fee will be. I've heard of Vipers, I hear them going off a lot too. LOL. They are 6 tone alarms. They are made by a company called DEI. Good luck on your search...

i use to have a crimestopper system in my wifes paseo and in my 91 cressida, and i could control either cars remote start from a single remote fob.

if i ever did get a new remote start/alarm, i would go crimestopper, but thats just me from previous dealings.

i stopped getting them since, my state will not give ins. discounts due to very low incidents of theft (only about 600k people in the whole state), and im too lazy to spend the money to get one correctly installed (since the original installer i trusted quit the business).
