Removing Fender Flare Clips

My fender flares are faded pretty bad and the clip on my rear passenger flare seems to be broken so I want to remove all the flares to wrap or paint. I did a search and couldn't really find a DIY on how to remove the flares, but from what I read it can be a pain. Can someone tell me which clips to buy? I have read that the flares use 2 different types of clips. Orange and Blue. Are these the only clips I should be worried about breaking when removing the flares? I found these on Amazon. Thanks.

Yes they consist of the 2 types of clips, don't know the correct ones as I did a complete/permanent removal.
I took a flat "L" shape pry bar to remove them. Just slide between the body and flare, and pull hard nod the first clip, after that, they come off with less force. No damage.

Will you post pics of your "flare permanent removal"?

Pulled my flare today to replace a broken clip that popped the flare out during some wheeling. I broke all the clips pulling on the flare, but I had replacement clips. Once I broke them and had the flare off they were easy to remove just by twisting them and pulling with pliers.

There pretty much a 1 time use clips. My tire kept hitting the top and popped both side sections, pull them off and didn't have to deal with it anymore, no desires for body lift.

So is the easiest way to pull them off just pop them off with a trim tool or something and then replace the clips?

Yeah, you might not break all of them when removing the panel, but you'll probably break most of them. Remove by turning 90 degrees and sliding out. Should come out easy after turning.

Yes it seemed like that was the easiest way. Once you pull the flare off by hand and break the clips, the clips can be rotated 90* and then they just fall out. Like the post before me said.

a few posts I'd seen mentioned how much it was a pain and that there were some screws involved. I have an 03 in which I plasti dipped the trim but I want to take them and the lower cladding off and try painting it. Did you guys just do the same and pry the cladding off as well?

So were the orange and blue ones on Amazon correct or did you source them somewhere else?

Did these end up working? I lost clips on my Passenger back door (not gate), and Im wondering how much it matters which clips go where. I lost a few that were in place.
