Removing high pressure line from pwr steer reservoir need immediate help pls!

17mm on end of banjo fitting but whole unit from reservoir is spinning out.

Appears to 24mm on whatever that fitting is going into reservoir, I don’t want to assume and screw anything up, was supposed to be at hydraulic shop an hr ago...

Do I simply lock onto the fitting going into reservoir and hold while removing 17mm banjo bolt, that right?

You won't hurt anything if it all comes out. There is a spring and piston in there that may fall out so don't lose them and make sure to put them back in as they came out. Sometimes it's just easier to pull it all out and seperate on the workbench!

ha yes not a bad idea, so obviously they’re supposed to spin freely from one another?

I haven’t removed fitting going into rack yet and fear I may have to cut that line to get socket on it. wanted to sort reservoir/pump end of line 1st, appreciate the reply

They do spin freely of each other. The larger fitting holds in the piston/spring, the hose then goes into that.

To make life easier on the rack end you should invest in some stubby wrenches and/or crows feet.

thought I would add a post for anyone searching for this job. a local parts store rep actually recommended a local hydraulic shop for line/hose replacement.

shop built me a line reusing my banjo fitting into pump & put a new end and *fitting going into steering rack. This new fitting going into rack was quite a bit shorter than one on oem line. I questioned him about it but said it would be fine. It wasn’t so be aware if you use a hydraulic shop which is absolutely fine, take note the fitting into rack should be long enough that when tightened its compressing the flare end enough to make a tight seal.

I had to remove and take it back to the shop, they ended up cutting oem and reusing that end also.

All in all pretty happy considering I paid a total of 90 bucks cdn equivalent approx 65-70usd for both high pressure and return lines, way cheaper than any aftermarket and its lines, nothing that oem is going to out perform except maybe longevity.
