Replaced my shifter bushing and seat

I've had the Marlin Crawler shifter bushing, shifter seat, and transfer lever seat for a while, but just got to installing them tonight. My shifter had been pretty sloppy, and I thought for sure the seat must have disintegrated, as many have.
When taking it apart, I found that the easiest way for me to get the retainer off was to push it down with a screwdriver and turn it with needlenose pliers.

Anyway, the bushing was MISSING ENTIRELY. The seats were worn but not disintegrated. Put in the new parts, lubed it up, and reassembled, shifts like a different car now.

I just kind of wonder what happened to the old bushing. BTW, make sure you use a hard, flat surface to snap it on, and you're totally vertical. It's a tricky little bugger.

Stock bushing is rubbery. It probably just dis-integrated and fell into and got ground into powder by the tranny. (I found mine messed up but still in place)

Yes, Marlin Crawler seat is good. It's plastic, not rubber like stock. Plastic makes better sliding surface against metal half-ball of the shift lever.

Guys, make sure you read remove and replace procedure properly so you don't end up unscrewing the wrong cover plate.

I just did the marlin crawler seat and bushing install, but a few weeks later I went to disassemble again and when I tried to remove the shifter, the bushing is now stuck in the turret. I tried everything to get it out. It spins freely and can move up and down about a half inch, but gets stuck near the top somehow. I ended up reinstalling the shifter, but I dont think it is fully seated into the bushing. Anyone else run into this issue?
