Replacing my XREAS System

I just hit 175k miles on my 4runner and it was time to replace the leaking XREAS system. I choose the blisten 4600 series shocks and struts. I have heard several people talk about springs but I didn't add them. Should I have added coil overs? The new suspension rides much better than the wore out system but probably not as good as the XREAS system did when it was new. I still have a little steering wheel shake at high speed, is this ball joints? Tires? Any advice there?

Has anyone else done this on a 5th gen yet. Hope to compare notes.

Most guys just pull the XREAS when they are new and replace the suspension with aftermarket. There are dozens here that have done this and it's no big deal. With 175K on the clock it could be many reasons you are getting a vibration. I would check bushings and joints after you get tires road force balanced.

This is confusing, What do you mean you didn't add springs? Do you mean, you used the same OEM springs?

Coil overs are just a pre-assembled shock and spring for front only.

Tires will def. cause shakes. Take it to suspension shop and have them give you suggestions

Like Greg said, many have. I just did a year ago. I used Fox parts and the ride is actually nicer than XREAS, for me anyway. I had some issues with the manufacture (FOX) and fitment, though that has been mainly resolved. What is it exactly are you wanting to compare?

I didn't know if the front struts were suppose to have springs over them. Mine are struts only.
My mechanic said the tires are causing the shake. I probably need some new ones but was wanting to wait closer to winter time.

Danny I appreciate the feedback. I was wanting to see how many people were happy with the feel of the rig with new suspension as compared to when they had XREAS. I think I would rather have the ride of the new XREAS personally but I didn't want he expense of trying to fix it. The ride is pretty good for a 175k mile truck.
