Request for Eezi Awn K9 Owners

Gotcha. Is the 2.2M version the preferred model? I'm intrigued with the idea of moving the shark fin.

Yeah looks like the 2.2m is the preferred model. I've been toying with the 1" lower feet but I might need the extra space to remove my RTT since it won't fit in the garage.

If/when I get this rack I might look into removing the shark fin but I'm not sure if the table at $200+ is worth it. It's a quality table for sure but I don't know if I camp enough to make it worth the cost.

Wondering if I should order it with shorter legs if there's already 1" clearance above the sharkfin with the standard legs...

Is that an option? I don't recall it being an option to get shorter legs.

I am not sure if you could get the mounting plate to lay flat with shorter legs though actually. The way you install it is there are five feet on each side. The middle foot you lower all the way down and tighten and then the #1 and #5 feet you extend all the way and tighten. This way the rigidity of the rack itself puts pressure down on the the ends of the mounting plates to get it to lay nice and flat.

With shorter feet you wouldn't be able to put as much pressure on the front and back of the mounting plate I don't think.

Edit - Sorry I didn't see your post about talking to Paul about getting shorter feet. Interesting option and I guess if it's an option from Eezi-Awn then it must be possible to get it to lay flat with the shorter feet. Guess I would have to see it to know for sure.

Sorry for the confusion. Yeah, these ship with the 65mm feet and getting the 40mm legs is only upon request given that the 40mm legs only work if you take out the sat antenna. He didn't seem to mention anything about the additional leverage, but I also didn't ask.

I'll be making a decision in a couple weeks or so- I guess we'll find out soon enough

same rule would apply when you install the rack with shorter feet, the profile is all that would change. The rack will still be flat and not curve to the roof it will just lay lower to the roof in the center.

My center leg is about 1/4 lower then the outer two - 1 & 5 if that helps.

I went with the standard 65mm legs because i intend on removing the shark fin so i can get the medium sized Eezi-Awn table. I would have gone for the 40mm legs if the table wasn't an option. It would be awesome to have a table handy at any time.

Yeah with the shorter feet you could still apply the same principle but on mine I have the middle foot completely down and the front foot completely extended. So basically I have 65mm of extension and pressure pushing down on the front whereas if you got the shorter feet you would only have 40mm of pressure. I am no engineer so I don't know how much pressure that correlates to but I was just wondering if the 40mm would lay as flat as the 65mm. Hopefully someone will get the shorter feet and we can all see

Paul just walked me through everything, and I have it on order with 40mm feet. It should be here sometime early next week. I'll be doing some experimenting with an OEM option for a shorter antenna- I'll be sure to update this when I do.

Awesome! Well you are gonna love the rack regardless. It is awesome and super easy to mount anything you want. Did Paul tell you about adding washer spacers? I didn't know about that at first and couldn't get it to lay flat but when I called the second time he told me about adding extra washers.

Will be interested to see how the shorter feet and the OEM antenna option work out.

Was able to source a slimmer OEM replacement antenna for those wanting to run the shorter rack or wanting to use the higher rack with a table.

Once I get the rack on I'll update this thread.

FrontRunner Compatibility

Hi guys, didn't want to start a new thread since I also have a request for K9 owners. How many of you are using FrontRunner accessories with the K9 rack? Which ones worked, which ones did not? Any chance you could post some pics with the rack in action? Thanks!
