Thanks weekendclimber! I appreciate the details on the bumper modification and lights. I'm in the same camp as you....I'm not going to be spending a ridiculous amount of $$ for the led b/u lights.

I don't live in a great neighborhood. I call it Warzone Kent, WA. I have padlocks on the Jerry can holder as well as running a thick cable lock through my spare around arm body, and jerry can itself.
Once I get my RMR roof rack, i think i might start putting my Hi-Lift on the rack and maybe move the jerry can as well. I keep dragging the license plate on transitions that have steep departure angles. This would also decrease the amount of weight beyond the rear axle.

Great Job Looks Great!!!! I use a bike cable and lock for the spare wheel and a lock for my jerry can.

Good luck on the install!! I did the front all on my own, which was a PITA. It helped using ratchet straps over the trusses in the ceiling of the garage since it weighs about 250 lbs with the winch in it.
Also, one thing on the rear that I did differently and might be a solution that [MENTION=5345]habanero[/MENTION] points out earlier in the thread. I ditched the included LED bolts for the license plate lights and went with this light off Amazon. This will allow me to remove the license plate in the future without having to snip wires. For $10 it was an easy decision.

which was nice when I changed the broken blue frame for a different one- and will be nice again when I get the new plates Missouri is issuing as the old plates come due.
To install my bumpers I used my cheapo scissor-style harbor freight tranny jack. I may have also aired down the tires to bring the truck down a little, it's been awhile.

I looked at those as well but couldn't find one in black like that with delivery in the window I had to get it installed. I'm going to be hunting the Pick-n-Pull soon to see if I can find one of the older Hilux style surrounds that has "Toyota" emblazened on it. Saw that on another's build thread somewhere.

Yeah, hadn't thought the LED plate lights through yet, but glad you did. They would be fine if they threaded from the front, but with the nut in the back you do have to disconnect wiring.
I'm assuming because I went with the dual can carrier, my plate will be up in the tire itself, if you look at my swing out closely, you can see they extended the 2" tube out and then provided a plate carrier that slips over that extension. So, in any case mine will have to disconnect. If/when the plate changes though, I don't want to have to cut the wiring so I'll look into the lights you guys found. Probably add a rear cam while I'm at it, my cheap android headunit has the input for it so might as well use it.
going to the powder coater today...

Yeah, the one that habanero has is on my list of soon to be mods. Unless, I can find one like this first. weekendclimber, I think this might be what you are talking about. It was in the "Official 3rd gen 4Runners on 35's Pic Thread" It is actually the stock 2nd gen swing out license / light unit thingy.

Also.. For those of you thinking about throwing on some big 35" tires...
Side note. As far as fitting large tires with this bumper. The 315/75/16 fits just fine on the rear swing out.
But,
During suspension articulation a 315/75/16 (or 35") tire will contact the rear bumper at the outboard leading edge of the wing on the wheel well side. *hope that makes sense* It's not too extreme, but it does contact.
I just got some longer bumpstops, 4.5" Daystar Comp bumpstops to see if that keeps me out of the top of the wheel wells with my 3.5" backspace SCS F5s. I am trying to keep from having to hack the rear wheel wells up that much. They will be replacing my Daystars that came with my SS 1.2 rear only lift.

I doubt they'll have since it was discontinued quite some time ago. If they do have one keep in mind that's just the bracket. That does not include the Toyota bezel, and I don't think the lights either.

What are we looking for, 2nd gen swingouts? I used to see them in the pick and pull yards here in SLC but I haven't even been in a yard in years and I don't have time to go digging, sorry.
