Rigid SR2 light bar wiring question

I am doing long overdue wiring for my rigid lights. Had a few questions

I am using a Bussman relay/fuse combo box.

With Right SR2 light bar can I get rid of the 40A relay and fuses included in the wiring harness and rely on the 30A fuse and relay of the Bussman instead?

You can, and I would as the wiring would get very odd if you have multiple relays needing to be on for the lights to trigger etc. That said, if it came with a 40amp fuse (seems very high for an LED bar but I'll trust you) you should get similar sized fuse for the busman. I believe those boxes are only rated at 80amps continuous so keep this in mind if/when you have lots of accessories wired up.

Yeah I checked. I am pretty sure it is 40A, both the fuse and the relay. Not sure if the harness they sent me was for something else! I am inclined to just try with 30A :-)

Meh, I wouldn't unless you take 5min to look up the max amp drawn of the bar from rigid. You don't want to run the risk of an electrical fire because you didn't buy a $.30 fuse

Its extremely unlikely, but its not the smart thing to do and no reason to invite the :rain:
 
I vaguely remember doing that when I got the lights a while ago and was trying to figure out wire sizes. Let me do that again :-)

Specifications:
Watts: 184.9
Amp Draw: 13.4
LED's: 46
Raw Lumens: 17250
Lux @ 10m: 4540
Beam Distance: 1348 m
Peak Beam Intensity: 454,000 cd

I assume that is peak draw! :)

Quite the opposite. The Rigid came with a 40amp. If he uses a 30amp fuse the worst case scenario is he blows the 30amp fuse.

I know the older 40" E-Series I'm using has a draw of 19.2 amps. I've been using a 30amp fuse for over 5 years and my wiring runs over 18ft.

It's always safer to use a lower rates fuse.

:whistle: 100% correct, slow day at work and my brain was clearly turned around. Anyhow a better, less incorrect statement would have been to match the fuse for the application.
