Rims and tires

Hey all,

I'm looking to do my first mod on my 2011 limited. I'm going with a simple rim and tire change. Probably a lift a little later down the road. I'm getting the run around from local tire shops... they r saying I can't downsize and put 17" or 18" rims over my large brakes. This can not be true since so many of you have done awesome mods... Correct? I'm looking for a black rim with an aggressive looking and functioning snow tire combo. I live in New England. Help!

same brakes across all 3 trim levels, they're trying to take you for a ride as both the sr5 and te both come equipped with 17's.

Short version; find a tire shop that know its azz from a shotgun.
