Truck is looking great dude.
Thanks, Brian! Glad you like it. No matter how clean I get it, still doesn't hold a candle to yours.Truck is looking great dude.
It also has 5 tires in the back to bring it down a bit haha, but thanks. Yes armor is next up.Looks like you got a LITTLE rake: But seriously that looks killer! I assume armor is next in line?
Well I appreciate you taking the time to read! Thanks.Awesome work! Your rig looks sweet, well worth the time. Of course I didn't have to do anything, but worth the read/lurking.
I have had 3 pairs of duratracs and no intention of switching anytime soon.Wow that looks awesome dude, nice job. You like the Duratracs? I'm trying to decide between the Duratracs or Cooper ST MAxx
My work here is doneMy jaw literally dropped when I saw these pics. Very cool/tasteful. I like the fresh start. Can't wait to see more updates. I think you also just convinced me (without even saying a word) to get 315s instead of 285 duratracs.
I like the rake too, really grown on me. Ill probably do rear bumper first to bring it down some though.Looks great! I love the raked look, much better than "level". What are your plans for armor on this?
Also tell your buddy Steven if he ever finds himself down south here I have a few things he can weld if he's looking for pizza!
Ooooh those are fancy! I did have my doubts about this set, seem to be more of just hard travel stoppers than actual cushioned bump stops. How long have you had that set?Looks good, Jim.
One thing that I HIGHLY recommend would be to lose those bump stops in the front. I came down hard on those that you're using and apparently hit the bolt that the rubbery stuff is formed around (technical, I know). The contact pushed the bolt down with such force that it knocked the threads off of the inside of the LCA (I imagine it was a tack welded nut). This happened on the rear of the driver's side and BOTH of the passenger side. These are what I am running and I LOVE them. Honestly, they perform so well that I cannot imagine hydro bumps being worth the cost (I'm sure they are for the big dawgs hucking their junk off the dunes). I plan to utilize them in the rear as well, eventually. I only run one set in the front position. The driver's side bolted right up with the bolt supplied. The passenger side I had to drill out a touch and insert a rivnut.
I see you've got the rear ready for some serious weight- what are the plans for armor out back?
At the current shock mounting position are you at 5" up and down, or did you orient it more one way than the other?
Also- what are your initial impressions of the ride/handling?

On my last truck I had the same thing happen with breaking a bump stop nut off.
I did not intend the rear to be as high as it is now. I do have plans to bring it down with some overpriced counterweights. I have not measured it exactly, but it is probably close to 5" up/down right now. I want to have more downtravel when it is at the correct position though.
I have not really driven it too much. I still need to align it and I'm leaving in a few days for holiday fun times. Ill let you know after the new year though!
I've had them for awhile... I think about a year now? This past year has been a blur with all of the trips and modifications between them. It all blends together. How long have you had that set?
The guy at wheelers recommended I keep one of the stock bumpstops as a final limit on compression
Thanks, Rock Rat. I am glad people take the time to read my ramblingsTruck looks good. I appreciate the detailed write ups. Quality work.
Thanks for stopping by, Bryan! How are the brakes treating you now?Jim,
Your truck looks absolutely amazing. The suspension work is inspiring to say the least!
Bryan

Well I thought my ARB bumper and my IROK's would be killing the 4Runner game.. But then mr. ripcord comes through with another thundercloud build and slaps some Icons on there..........
Selling my truck now because of this build
The two of you need to get together and make a dealSo uh, how much money do you need for me to come pick this runner up from you this weekend?
I finally bit the bullet and got my rear links built the right way.
My old links were 1/4" longer than stock and I still had some vibes with them, these new ones are 3/4" longer than stock. Stock is 12 1/4", these were 12 1/2" and the new ones are 13".
The problem with them is that having poly bushings on each end made them TOO strong. The stock links had some rotation in them through the rubber bushings and the solid rod. These would not have the flex I needed and could even break the control arm mounts if I used them off road.
The "old" ones.
